#3346, "yet again safc2"

Ok I guess im ready top get burned, but I spent like 2 hrs looking at all safc2 posts and the internet looking for my info. I have a 1995 420a gs turboed and im wiring my safc2, I found diagrams and stuff on 1997's and everything else but 1995 gs...I read forums saying pin numbers dont matter blah blah blah I realize this....I found this on oneof the forums, BUT

ECU Wire
Power Red 20 (upper) Black/White
TPS Gray 35 (upper) Brown/Red
Ground Brown 10 (upper) Black (ECU side)
Ground Black 10 (upper) Black (Source side)
MAP in White 36 (upper) Yellow/Black (Engine side)
MAP out yellow 36 (upper) Yellow/Black (ECU side)
O2 sensor Blue 30 (upper) White/Black
Tach/RPM Green 73 (lower) White

on MY safc2 I have 11 wires, brown,red,black,green,pink,orange,yellow,purple,blue,white,and gray
now do I just forget about the others??? and if so wtf is
Power Red 20 (upper) Black/White
O2 sensor Blue 30 (upper) White/Black??
how do you tell a difference between them, black/white and white/black? Does anyone have the pin numbers?

as you have found the pin #'s dont mater since there are sometimes subtle changes from year to year.

the wire color though will guide you to everything
when it sez white / red (W/R) white would be the base color of the wire with a single red stripe going down it. its not dotted or broken up in anyway.

if your still concerned that you have the wrong wire, print out all the pin-outs you can find and make a chart of each year pin-out ylu find and the wire that it sez. if they match across the board you have found the right one. then its just a matter of locating it on the harness.

if you have an UNCUT / UNMODED ECU harness, i found that removing the plastic protective cover and striping back about 6" of the tape wrap will expose enough of the harness to make a difinitive diagnosis.
then take some rubbing alchol and clean the harness wires, this will remove any grease and grime from the harness and make the colors easier to find.

if your really reluctant to go severing your harness, use bullet conectors on the cut ends so you can reattach them if you mess up, this also makes the use of a custom "Jump or MOD Harness" easier to use. and if you need to remove the system it can be returned to stock fairly easily.

Your problem is probably the Tach signal. You need the crank signal (blue/white) instead of the tach sig (white). Change it and I bet it will work for you. I have a 95 as well and just found this out while wiring megasquirt.

No dude. On an SAFC, you *WANT* the solid white wire for tach, *NOT* the blue / white crank trigger signal.

The extra wires are taped off and not used. All you need are MAP in, MAP out, tach, TPS, power, and the two grounds for the SAFC.

Power is oversized black / white stripe on the ECU harness
Ground is black / brown stripe @ ECU harness
TPS is brown / red stripe @ ECU harness
Tach is solid white @ ECU harness
MAP is black / yellow stripe @ ECU Harness
