Myself and a buddy are developing a graphical digital dashboard for the Megasquirt platform. Mostly to help people keep an eye on engine vitals. Its not a laptop replacement, however it offers a better interface than a palm and is designed for the automotive environment.

We are selling this device as a development unit for basically hardware cost to aid in software testing.
$230 without case
$245 with case

This provides people with a chance to get their hands on this device early for a very reduced cost and be a part of the firmware testing.

Right now the display supports all MSnS-extra firmware versions except for the HiRes code. The display is fully MS2 compatable, but that code development has not yet started. It supports almost every gauge that MegaTune can display; I think the count is around 40 gauges.

The firmware is open source. Make your own gauges. Tweak the GUI interface (if you like).

I would be interested if it were smaller. Not a small as the megaview but def smaller than it is. I can get a laptop screen that size and setup an in car computer.

I know from personal experience that some hard drives do not survive very long in the car with a rough suspension.(i've went through 1 hard drive and a LCD screen hinge already). I just don't want to keep making the same mistakes.

Also, in my early days of my MS installation, I have walked away from the car while it was turbo timing and had the coolant boil over because the fans weren't on. I might have caught this early if I could keep an eye on things.

I know its slightly large for eclipses, but could be attractive if you are not using the dash or have no working gauges there.

4.88 X 6.88 X .9 inches

Without the case the dimensions are:
147mm wide x 104mm tall x 13.39mm deep

why not just go with this and customize how you display it yourself. Its only $135 here and its a VFD display instead of a LCD which BANME! is a better display.

Its all personal preference. Personally, I like to see multiple engine paramters at once and not just in a ticker tape display. The only thing that could possiblly be more appealing is the size of MegaView; thats about it.

HiRes code and MS2 support are coming within 2 weeks. Also, for the production units, some trick shit is coming. Keep your eyes out for msefi posts and I will try to keep everyone updated here.
