#2413, "finally finished megasquirt install...newbie time"

So I finally got everything good to go with my car. Got a fully built block, got my neon tranny installed, and I just finished up the wiring for my megasquirt that I've had since March. I've researched, researched, and read some more...but now that it's actually time to do stuff I've gotten kinda stumbled.

I think the only thing I managed to change correctly was my wideband setting to zeitronix in the car1 settings.ini file. I got the MS powered up, and even connected a few times on and off. It would read tps perfect, got readings from clt and iat sensors, and can't quite remember what else. I know it wasn't right though because none of the values or other settings seemed to have loaded. I've been reading for months on req fuel, warmup, ase, pw, etc etc ...but now it's like I went blank or I don't have it all setup correctly in order to do the things I need. I also need to figure out why exactly the return fitting on my aeromotive fpr is deciding to leak fuel.

My car is in the garage of a house that has been sold, and I would like to get it running before they come to impound in on wednesday lol. Searching just isn't workin out well for me at the moment, so I figured this was the best way to get the "here's your obvious answer dummy" reply.

Well after getting the first bit of sleep I had all weekend, a quick search yielded me this...

Ok, you want the Megatune 2.25 release version, which looks like thats what you have there. Now, you want to get the "Msns extra" series of code, just get the latest stable release, version 029q2. After you get this zip file, extract it to a new folder, or where ever you want really, then in that zip file is the 029q2 code file, the ".s19" file. This is what gets uploaded to the MS processor. Now, once you get that loaded in the processor, you need to configure Megatune to read that code type, so you dont get that error screen. In that zip file should be a file with the extension and name: "msns-extra.ini" This is the configuration file that is CODE SPECIFIC, and Megatune NEEDS this file for it to function with the code correctly. You need to copy this .ini file to the megatune car specific directory. They make this easy to do, with a file in the zip that you extracted, you will find a "copyini.bat" file. Just click this file, and it will automatically copy the ini file to the megatune directory. If this still does not work, you may have to copy it maually.

Is it possible just copying this code over will solve all of my connection issues, or is there anything else I need to be looking out for? This sucks because I have to sit here at work all day hoping to get all of the answers because my car is usually at my house where I'm in the garage online with my laptop the whole time. I think good 'ol Terry might be hearing from me tonight if I'm still stumped lol.

FYI: I'm running a V3 that I got from Terry, and only controlling fuel at first with green top 440's.

Ok so I am here to help. What code are you running? Did you change all the settings in the ini file? Have you tried starting the car yet? What happens? Are you sure you got the ms wired right?

I'm reading over the "upgrade" procedure at the moment to make sure I get the code file transferred over correctly. I'm running 024s13c

So basically the only thing I was missing was to click that copybat.ini dealio?

I selected msns-extra instead of just ms-1 in the code variant list, and megatune loaded up no problem and now it looks all crazy lol...I thought it was all in depth before hehe.

Yeah...so I got it all connected good now, but still can't get it to start. It will crank and crank and every now and then sound like it's gonna fire up but doesn't. I left my laptop at a friends, so I can't upload the log of me cranking at the moment. I'm trying to use the map terry had loaded already on there for me, but I also got a map from sam that should be a bit closer to what I'm running.

If I can't get my car started and moved by this afternoon, I'm gonna have to pay to get it towed somewhere else before it's involuntarily impounded

HA ha I told you so. It will take you awhile to tweak msns and get it to start your car. After that it gets easy. Your wideband is your friend Xmasta. Call me and tell me how you are doing.
