#57, "POWER STAGES UPDATE?"
Jan-26-05 01:57 PM by DR1665

I stumbled on this site sometime in 2000 while surfing the web on my lunch break at work. I printed out the original power stages page back when they were all linked from the top of the main page and were in tidy little boxes. Since then, it appears they have been updated once, maybe twice, but I was thinking I would like to be the one who revises them again for the community. In the last couple years, there have been a lot of changes and new ideas come to light in our community and I think the power stages should reflect that. As of right now, there is no mention of the long rod rebuild, the 034EFI, Portfueler or Megasquirt standalone system. I think these are fairly relavent pieces of info to add to www.2gnt.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=51, not to mention at least a semblance of information about the 2.4L swap. And can anyone still justify a SAFC when you can get a full stand alone for the same price? I think I would yank that guy.

I think that, if you want to see things change here (and in life in general) you need to be the one to step up to the plate and do it yourself. For all that I have learned from 2GNT over the past couple years, I figure the least I could do is give a small part of the board a facelift of sorts.

I'm proposing doing away with the time and maybe horsepower estimates, as even if one were to do all of them without nitrous or a turbo (with the exception of maybe the 2.4 swap), 200hp and 14.5 are really overly optimistic targets and there is no need to have someone add up all those miniscule gains only to get 187hp or so. So something like maybe this format (with a nice little disclaimer mentioning realistic goals for all motor):

modName:
modCost:
modFeatures:
modBenefits:

Obviously, I would submit any drafts of this page that I would come up with to a predetermined moderator to post in the moderator forum for discussion/revisions/approval before it went public. I've just been thinking I would like to give something back to 2GNT and well, other than this, I'd say I'm not overly talented imo.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

EDIT:
I'd even throw in all the proper tags to make it look pretty before I submitted the final draft. Talk about saving the mods some time.

Ease of use and the fact that it's tried and true. Reason enough to keep information on it. Different strokes for different folks.

I have taken the text from the hoem page and begun to reformat it to my style and make a few changes as I go. Damn. This is a mess, but it will be worth it, I think. Thanks.

Thank you, sir. I'm still working on it. Funny how you get started on a project and time starts to slip away. I wish I could say I'm busy rebuilding Daisy, but it's just life taking up too much time lately. I've got a rough draft about halfway done at this point. I've pretty much got the original cleaned up and started adding new info now. Once I get the information compiled, I'll submit it to a mod and let them hash it over in their clubhouse. Then they can send it back for me to add all the requisite tags to make it look pretty.

Labor of love.
