no show really...just fast ass cars. Last year we showed up in norwalk on Friday night and went to the track for test and tune. It was 10 bucks I think to get into the track to just watch...or 10 bucks if you wanted to make some passes. So it was the same price. Saturday Buschur had a Dyno day...but most of the 2gnt crowd just went there for like an hour or so. Sunday is race day. 15 to get in and some like 30 or 40 to race. Somebody might want to correct me on those prices...I don't really remember. I killed more than a few brain cells on saturday night emoji

Just as a taste, I'm going to host a couple of my old pictures, since my SO thread killed KaptainMyke'sKasa and forced him to sell a kidney to pay for his bandwidth that month. BRB!

Thursday, a group of us rolled out of Chicago towards Norwalk in a grand caravan. (I didn't capitalize that, as it's not a proper noun.)

Along the way, we picked up people in Indiana and the Michigan crew met up with us. (Michigan would = many red DSMs belonging to guys named Matt and a chicken fucker.) They had not arrived yet when this picture was taken.

Sometimes, being the last person to get drunk can be a good thing. I had only about 4 hours sleep in the 2 days at this point, but Chickenfucker (and my bro, Aaron there) insisted I take the Z to the likka sto.

There were donut holes Friday morning. Shamu loves him some donut holes. emoji

Dude. (inside joke)

Here you can see the group leaving to check out the dyno events at Buschur's.

When the sun set Saturday night, this Best Western had only seen the beginning...

Todd give the Shootout one thumb up. (The other thumb is required for beverage service.)

Drinks were invented, corn was molested, and shockers administrated.

There was even arts & crafts time! Here we see a Portfueler being made. (Note: this trash can took all of 30 seconds to fill.) (inside joke)

Aaron is not from the west side. He is from Indiana. And check out the PVC on the wall! Dino was mystified! (inside joke)

Portfueler! (inside joke)

At the actual shootout Sunday afternoon.

Silver car, lower right is the current fastest all motor 2GNT. Daniel ran a 15.000.

Has anyone seen Bill?

A promise is a promise. I won't post it. (inside joke)

The faster the car, the sweeter the keyring. (inside joke)

Next year, we need more people in this picture imo.

The Shootout will be one of the most exciting events you ever go to. Drunken debauchery pales in comparison. I think anyone who went will agree with me when I say that, it doesn't matter if you join this board the Wednesday before the SO... if you make it to Norwalk, nobody who didn't can call you a n-double-0h-b. So much goes on and you get to know a lot of people. I don't even think it's really about the race. It's about getting together with 2GNTers and having one helluva motherfuckin party.

What happens in Norwalk...

Second, by imitation, which is easiest;

"Dude" Thank you so much for that. Made my night. (I got it running again BTW, so get yours by next August and we'll compare and contrast, which I look forward to greatly I might add.

The SO is really chill. Get there Friday (or whenever, but I like Friday) and chill at the hotels with hundreds upon hundreds of other DSMers who might be the coolest most laid back people ever. Saturday, Buschur has a "show" and dyno open at his shop. Nothing formal, just a chance to hang out. Sunday is race day and is 15 to watch and 35 to race (I think). Probably the most fun 4-5 days you can ever have.

Also, be wary of the countless numbers of people who say they'll go then for some reason come up with "reasons" not to go. Every year 100 people promise they'll go then most back out. This is the true mark of one's dedication to the craft. "Do or do not. There is no try" (To quote a true genius).

It's running again shitheads.

Any time. I'd say yours was the fastest DSM I've been in. Turbo8u gave me the scariest ride and if I knew in advnace I was going to get a scarier ride than the one he gave me, I doubt I would go without a parachute.

As do I. I'm sure with your AWD you'll "rip out of the hole," but it will be fun to try from a rol or something. Just have to watch out for Johnny Law imo.

Amen. If you're DSm dreamin' 8 days a week like some of us, you can't beat this event. Picture a town of maybe 30,000 people. Then picture that town being invaded by some 300+ DSMs. Pretty cool.

If I forgot anyone, well, make yourself bold if you went and if you're reading this thread. I can't remember everything. I was drunk most of the time. emoji

fuck yeah...the shootout rocks. I've been the last two years and will be going this year. I am one of the few that keep my promise about that :p

This year i was the licqor mang, everyone was finding watered down sugar water with a lil bit o booze in it. Leave it to me to sniff out the real shit emoji

As for that pic, driggs, i was kept in the dark on everything this year. I liked it better a couple years back when there was at least a time for a 2gnt intro/meeting at Best Western. This year still rocked though. Jus sucks i don't remember alot of the people i met for the first time.

No need for a DD next year. I'm bringing beer from out of state, and getting shit faced where I'm staying (where everyone is staying for that matter) I can leave my keys with the safe up front and not have to worry about a thing.

I'm dragging run4cvr into Chicago Wednesday night and we'll be caravanning into Norwalk that Thrusday I would assume. Still a bit on the early side, but I've already got reservation for Thrusday - Sunday night at the Best Western. Also, I've set up a special savings account for the SO. Every payday, $50 goes into it. In ten months, I'll have a grand for the trip which doesn't interfere with mod money. If I can't mod the car all the way, I can still go to the Shootout. Sweet.

Estimate the cost of your trip, divide that amount by ten, and that's all you need to save per month between now and then to ensure you get to go. If the boss absolutely won't let you have the time off, then you've still got a nice chunk of change to play with and make yourself feel a little better.

DO NOT MISS THE SO.

^^^^^ Brian,

Post that savings strategy in the pits. I want to come up with as many ways as humanly possible to make sure people have no valid excuses for not going. This way, we can seperate the cream from the milk so to speak. You have no idea how annoying I find it when all these people promise to be thre then at the last minute say something like, "I forgot to order my windshield washer fluid, so it won't be in in time to go. Sorry y'all, I can't make it." Those bullshit excuses make me want to womit.

That's such an awesome idea. Props brah. There should be a "getting to the 2005 SO strategy thread".
