Just buy a cheap ebay no-name intake for like $10 bucks. All intakes basically do the same thing and add only like 1hp. Don't be fooled by the name brand intakes that claim they add like 10-15 hp.

All you are doing is lowering intake restriction by running a cone filter. I woudl however not skimp on the filter though.

yeah ive already gone the ebay way and encountered all the installation problems and it seems so ghetto and i just dont feel comfortable having it held on by zipties and some small metal rod. I just kinda want to be safe and go with something with some quality mounting brackets or actual instructions even though im only paying for the name. Thanks

well if your set on spending money to look good go the Injen / aem route as the HKS is just a filter end and not the actual piping THATS why its cheap. HKS dosent do CAI's because there filters are intended to be used right on a turbo. IF you have a turbo then HKS is a good possiblity, however look for a K&N filter in the right diameter and it will work just the same. this same combo can be done with the homemade CAI, get some intercooler piping some silicon angles and the filter and your all set. better looking then PVC but cheaper then Injen. just take the time and it will look nice and you can then say "i did that" and not feel embarased to lift your hood.
