well as far as having someone rebuild it for you...thats all relative to what all you want to accomplish...i mean what are your goals with that engine? turbo? nitrous? All motor? if its the latter of the two, high compression is the way to go, if you want a turbo, then go low compression. but it all depends on your goals... but definitly you should replace every gasket in that sucker when you build it...and new main and rod bearings. and from there, its all up to you, forged internals, whatever you want. im currently building an engine for turbo, and im going forged pistons/rods, new bearings and gaskets and a port and polish job, and ill probably update the valvetrain components. but really its all up to you. maybe do a few searches (you'll be told this a lot anyway) and check out some peoples signatures to see what they have done to their engines.

If you're hoping the aftermarket parts will make your engine more powerful, they wont unless you switch to higher compression pistons, and even then the gains are minor for the expense involved.
The reason most of us do engine rebuilds is because we slap a turbo on the engine to make it faster. Turbos require different engine internals due to the higher compression and heat generated.
