#99577, "general timing question I have searched please help"
I have done some extensive work to my head such as undercut valves, crower retainers, 3 angle valve job.... and now that i put the head back on there is no high end power. I have aem cam gears also and i have searched and read up on them i know the poblems with them being off. as we all know there is a timing mark on both sides of the gears, could i have put a cam in 180 deg in the wrong direction? this would be my problem. would the car still run if the intake cam is in backwards? btw the cams are stock. any help would be much appreciated.

If you have one of your cams 180* off, the car will not run, as the intake and exhaust valves will all be open/closed at the same time. Been there. Done that. Used many swear words and drank much beer.
It could be that your timing is just off by a little bit. Be sure you have the gears zero'd out and that they are installed properly. Hit up the search to get more information pertaining to how you can tell if your AEM gears are not marked properly and how you can rectify it. (Although someone might know off the top of their head and share the info in this thread, which would be nice.)
If everything is correct, you might only feel the most gains between 3500-6000rpm. If it feels like it's pulling better than it used to in the midrange, then things are likely okay. Stock ECU starts to pull in the reigns in the top end.

thank you for the info. i car doesn't really pull at all above 4500 rpms, almost like it is redlined. i guess i will have to redo the timing. I have done searching on the aem gears. i just wasn't sure if i put in in backwards. lol i guess i will have to redo the timeing belt and see if that helps at all. don't feel like it but will see what happens. guess i have too.
