i dropped my rebuilt mmotor back into my car hooked up all of the electrical and everything else in there.... I turn the engine over and it will crank and make a sputtering noise like it wants to start but just wont start and I am gettin fuel into the motor.... does anyone have any idea of why it is not starting?

The Chilton says under "Hard Starting (engine cranks normally) that its either 1 of 7 problems. Faulty engine control system component, faulty fuel pump, faulty fuel system component, faulty ignigtion coil, improper spark plug gap, incorrect ignition timing, incorect valve timing.
I checked under ignition timing how to check it and it says if your car is 95+ and isnt the 4g63 or 4g64, that "it is not necessary to check the ignition timing using a timing light, as the crankshaft position is detected directly and the timing is controlled electronically."
So if that doesnt apply to you then I guess it would be the valve timing? And that my friend, is about 3-4 pages of words and pictures to copy.
Then again it could be any of the other 5 not mentioned.

ok so i just checked my spark plugs in my car and they look as if of the #3 cylinder is gettin any kind of spark..... How could i check to see if i was gettin spark in all of the cylinders?

ok i chrckrf to see if i was gettin spark and i only had spark in cylinder three so i went and bought a new ignition coil and new spark plug wires to go with. After I put azll of the new parts in i still only have spark in the third cylinder what can else can be causin me o only get spark in that cylinder?

Juuuust kidding.
Did you make any changes to the wire harness at all? Install a new sensor and have to change out a connector? Basically, when you crank the motor over, the ECU is looking to see that the crankshaft is in proper relation to the cams. It does this by comparing signals from the CAS and CMP. If it does not see the right signals at the right time, it will not fire the coil pack.
If your timing belt is not dead on, you can have this problem. I don't know why you would only get spark in one cylinder, but stranger things have happened. When all else fails, consider the most common denominator - incorrect timing.
You don't have to pull the motor back out, but you should pull the timing belt cover and verify that you have that thing timed dead on. If not, and this means no "Half a tooth off" bullshit, you will have to redo the timing belt.

thanks for the help on that i just looked at the timing and they had it off by one tooth it looks like.... so i am goin to redo the timing tomorrow and see if it works and if it does there will be a lot of yellin goin on at the shop that rebuilt it for me.... i'll tell you if it all works out
