So I finally got some time to undergo the project of installing my built short block and megasquirt among many other miscellaneous upgrades. I got the whole motor out yesterday without any real problems or concerns. Jacked the car up, and dropped the motor completely assembled, tranny with axles and all right out to the side.

Today start taking stuff from the old block and bolting onto the new one while it's hanging there....now the issues. I got the ARP head stud kit 141-4202 from a member on here brand new in box. Come to realize that the studs will not thread into the block. They seem to be fatter than the stock tty head bolts and the threads themselves are actually different. Hell, they wouldn't even fit in the two outside holes with the dowels. The kit seemed to be fully intact and brand new as stated...but this can't be right emoji

I also have not even managed to get my AF/X udp off of my old crank. The hobbby shop here on base has the "harmonic dampener removal tool", yet in all their random bolts in the kit...none would thread into the pulley. I know I'm going to need a longer M12 x 1.50 bolt to help install the pulley, but couldn't find anywhere after searching what the actual bolt sizes are to use in the pulley. It would be kinda hard to just walk in the hardware store carrying my whole bottom end just to find the right size.

The hobby shop is actually closed now until wednesday, so I have a little bit of time to figure all this out seeing as my car is in pieces and charging me a stall fee until I do. With the new block and megasquirt, my new headgasket is gonna do jack for me if I have to end up using stock replacement headbolts. I've found the exact part numbers etc to order directly from ARP, but can't just drop another $150 plus to have it all shipped 2day air here to me in Alaska. meh....looks like my little weekend project is turning into another dsm is broken sig on all my forums lol. Oh well, the one night she finally ran was fun. Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated emoji

the studs have the threads on one side for the block and diff on the other for the nuts... you try them the other way?

If not contact ARP, maybe its was mis labled or something...

As for the UDP, a steering wheel puller works like butta!

I talked to the member on here whom I purchased the stud kit from, and he got them through Concept Illusions. He opened up just to sure it was correct, then sent them out to me. They're definitely not the right ones though...I threaded the nuts onto one end, verifying that the other side was indeed meant to go into the block. I guess he's going to try and contact CI, and it looks like I'm going to have to dish out the dough to get all the right stuff directly from ARP first thing Monday morning.

...steering wheel puller huh. I know the tool I had is what everyone says to use, it just came with a bunch of random bolts, and none of them were the correct size. Does nobody actually know the size and thread pitch or what not emoji

EDIT: Well turns out the correct bolts are standard 3/8" course thread, so that's one problem down I guess emoji

Update time:

Well the hobby shop and it's dumb "summer hours" finally opened back up today, and I got to work on my baby some more. Got a few more things bolted onto the new block as it's hanging there...ie: alternator, sensors etc on back of block, oil filter dealio, new water pump etc. I picked up the three 3/8" bolts for the pulley this morning on my way there. The hobby shop had the real "Chrysler Harmonic Dampener removal/installation tool" and damn that thing was the pimp shizzle. Since I couldn't use the jaw pulling portion of it, I took the main accessories and used them with the Snap-on puller. It came with a rod what not to put in the center, but since my AF/X was never actually installed all the way on, it didn't stick out any. I ended up utilizing the infamous 6" 1/4" drive extension, so using the three bolts and holes in the udp...that baby came off like butter. Then the installation was just as amazing. Apparently one of the accessories in the kit is a little thrust bearing that goes right up against the pulley...no need to use a longer crank bolt with washers etc. The main center bolt threaded right into the crank, then just tightened a nut up against the thrust bearing and pushed the pulley all the way on.

As much as that was quite an accomplishment to me, the biggest of the day was yet to come. I got the flexplate, clutch, and tranny bolted on and hangin with the block. So tomorrow I can torque the head on, install cams etc, then do the timing. The engine bay will have a motor once again! Depending on how slow I work and whether or not I can get a babysitter for the afternoon...could be up and running tomorrow evening. The goal is definitely to have the motor back in place with mounts and what not good to go...then just hooking up everything else.

So turns out the studs I originally received were mispackaged with 12mm instead of our 11mm x 1.50 UPS delivered my lovely new ARP shiznit this evening woohoo. meh...end of my long tedious rant lol.
