Here is my writeup on how to do it for cheap, obviously price will go up as the quality of parts goes up.

Do a search on XSPower or SSAutoChrome on this site and you will find your answer to if that is a good setup or not.

You know they make an Eclipse/Talon that already has a rebuilt engine and a turbo kit installed from the factory right? Turns out the whole car costs less than a rebuild kit + turbokit and works better. emoji

That's the spirit of 2GNT!

To the original poster, search around for used parts... such as Star or Hahn manifolds. Many people here part out there turbo kits and its a great steal for anyone interested in piecing together their own kit for cheap. Boost 5-7lbs when you start out; it might not be much, but some boost is better than no boost... not to mention you'll end up having more HP than you ever would staying N/A. Then, as you're starting to crave raising the boost, save up some money here and there to rebuild your motor to handle double digit boost numbers.

It's getting hot in here..

OP. After you get the rebuild done just go with the Hahn kit and uprade the parts you want. The reason i say that and not to build your own was my judgment made by the question you are asking and the knowledge it would take for you to peice together your own.

I agree. If you don't have the wherewithall to fully research the subject on your own and are overly-dependant upon the opinions of others before making your decision, then your best bet is going to be to save up the scratch and get the HRC system. It's complete, proven to work as advertised, and comes with excellent instructions. As you get familiar with running a turbo 420A, you can begin to upgrade.

Personally, if I were you, I would get the HRC kit first, then save for a solid rebuild down the road.

Thanks for the advice, I've been up now for a while doing some research and looking at stuff on ebay. I'm going to piece together my own kit using the search key along the way. Rebuild kit will be ordered soon. Hopefully I have it all finished before winter.
