#98942, "Idle VERY high."

My Car is Idleing from 1,500-5,000
If i start it up in the morning it goes to 1,500-2,000
If I get on it just once it will go to 4,000-5,000 and not stop...
It sucks really bad.

What do I do?

The throttle body was nasty so i took it off cleaned it (there was alot of gunk) I cleaned most of it.. now the throttle ring thing shuts all the way.

Some of the headgasket (thing between engine and throttle body that seals i guess) fell off i ordered a new one like 6.99$ autozone.

Could taht really bed the big reason for idleing so high?

I also have the CEL that states.. P1294 - Injector Highside Open - Bank 2 / Target idle not reached.

Have you checked for VAC leaks?

EDIT: Didn't read properly, def. look at your IAC sensor.

when you pulled the TB you should have pulled the IAC and cleaned it off too. It's the other sensor beside the TPS

There are two screws on it. The TPS sensor will be directly in line with the butterfly, or in simpler terms for you, the shaft that goes through the middle of the TB.

You want to remove the other one, which is the IAC, which is held in by two screws, a T20 torx head I believe. Wait, if I remember right, aren't those screws a 7 mm? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Forgot to add one thing. The wires for the IAC motor are pretty damn close to the EGR tube. Check them as well to see if they haven't burned through or not.

How did it get this far in the thread and nobody before djtrickee seemed to mentioned that his gasket isn't all the way there! (BTW, it's a throttle body gasket OP, the head gasket is something different)

There's your vacuum leak, there's your problem.

Clean the surfaces well for the new gasket before you put it on, and you might as well clean the IAC since you're gonna be taking off the throttle body anyways.

I had kinda the same problem, but my car would not hold idle at all (dies). I removed the vacuum line the charcoal box, and the idle went to 4000. I replaced my Idle Speed Controller, and it all went away. I think you have a massive intake leak somewhere or you have a vacuum leak accompanied with a dirty, or failed Idle Speed Controller.

This is just my suggestion, and my first time giving advise on hear, so please dont blast me if you think I'm full of Shhh.

Oh and that Idle Speed Controller can sometimes be found on ebay for less that 40 bucks!
