after replacing my head gasket which included crank sensor, egr valve, and purge flow valve. I drove the car for about a week for just under 5 miles per day. the car just sat for 3 weeks and I went to start it, it wouldn't start cranked fine(had on a jump pack) checked for spark it had spark and I heard the fuel pump kick on everytime key went forward.....car just kept cranking......sprayed some starting fluid in car and car would start and stay running idle perfectly fine. could drive it anywhere and shut it off for a short period of time and have it still start but if it had time to cool down it would no longer start without starting fluid....a CEL was on code p352 and p112 which is intake air temperture low input voltage, and ignition coil b low input/secondary circuit malfunction. I replaced the IAT sensor and the ignition coil. still no start, checked the voltage from ecu to coil and it was only 1.4v(idk what it's supposed to be but that seemed low) borrowed a good computer and tried it to see if it worked and nothing same result only started with starter fluid. going to try and check fuel pressure tomorrow but anyone else have any ideas, I'm vary irritated? thx

btw: checked compression also and it was all withing 185kpa and 195kpa( slightly higher than stock due to machined head with new valve job)

Fuel injectors? Fuel filter?

Sounds like you're not getting enough fuel at start up.

Just a guess, though.

EDIT:
When it's running, try listening to the fuel injectors to see if any of them sound funky. Should be a nice, uniform ticking sound coming from them. If they all sound the same, I would consider replacing the fuel pump before anything else. Sounds like you have the ignition system pretty much checked out.

It only does it when its cold? Borrow a datalogger and scan the ECU to see what the Coolant temp is. Then take a thermometer and see what temp the coolant is at the filler neck. The two should be within 5 degrees. If they are way off then replace your Coolant temp sensor.

As driggs said too, make sure you have a good fuel filter.

If the rest above do not help, check your IAC also, it may be stuck open...

Just kind of an afterthought, next time this problem happens, pull one of the plugs and see if it's soaked with fuel...

Id also check to make sure your EGR pipe didnt burn through the harness right above it.
Sounds like you have a short caused by that

As a head's up, you can go back and edit any post you make for something like 24 hours, now. No need to double post like this.

Terry's idea has a lot of merit as well. If the ECU thinks the outside temperature is too cold, it could be adjusting the mixture to be overly rich (since colder air is more dense with oxygen), thus almost flooding the car out in the beginning.

Not to say the IAC and EGR ideas aren't any good, as they are certainly common causes of problems like this, but it's always a good idea to consider those items which are either the cheapest or simplest to do before the others. I don't know about you fellas, but I'd rather take the temperature of the coolant or replace a CLT than pull the rear main harness.

OMG this site rocks!!! I swear I learn something new here every day without the verbal bashing offered at some other unmentioned sites. Thanks for the enlightenment...

Either way, your right as hail...

I think I need a sticker for my Eclipse that says "Built and Maintained by Team 2GNT.com"

fuel filter is new, fuel pump is new btw.the harness is ok by egr(checked). I however didn't know that a coolant temp sensor could keep a car from starting, I did know that it was bad however because whenever I do get the car to start no matter how long it sits the temp guage jumps up to operating temp as soon as the car starts...... I will get a new sensor and see what happens?

Another thing to chk is the fuel pressure. I am not concerned with the car running but when the pump primes. If the fuel pressure is not rising to at least 35psi when the pump primes then you will have issue starting. Also when the pump primes the regulator should hold pressure for a few minutes before it slowly starts to bleed off. If the fuel pressure jumps up the rapidly drops to zero then that is likely your problems. The only thing is it could be your fuel pump allowing the pressure to bleed backwards into the tank or the regulator could have a small leak where the pressure will bleed off fast when the pump is not running but when the pump is constantly running the volumn of flow is rapid enough to hold pressure up.

How do you test this? Well i doubt you want a long explanation on how to properly test fuel pump bleedback, leakign regulator, and injector leaking, so do this.

Take the plug out of the fuel pump relay and drop it straight down so you can view the plug where the relay plugs in. The front most pin and the rear most pin are the fuel pump wire and 12V+ wire. Take a jumper wire and connect the front pin to the rear pin. The 2 pins will be oriented perpendicular to one another. This will energize the pump even with the car off.

Now try to start the car. If the car starts fine then you have an issue in your fuel system and I can guide you through that.

Terry

Gee. Thanks for contributing, technically. emoji If you want the sticker, get one made. There is no broad, sweeping plan to mass market "Built by 2GNT.com" decals in place at this time.

I'd say you're on a good path. Just remember, there are two sensors there. One is for the gauge (which is OBVIOUSLY fucked). The other is used by the ECU to determine fuel trims, etc.. This is going to be easier than fixing most of the fuel system problems, so I hope it works out for you. If they offer you a choice of CLT sensor, GET BOTH and be certain you have replaced the right one.

If that doesn't work, read over Terry's posts very carefully, since he's likely on a better course to solving the problem than I am. Happy wrenching!
