Can Anyone confirm the crank bolt size??? I have seen anywhere in this forum from 12mm X 1.75 to 12mm X 1.50

I tend to beleive this post that I found by doing a search here, but I am looking for verification of this informtaion....

I just wanted to post this up if anyone is searching... Before doing my install I did a search for the correct long bolt size so I could order it. What I found on the boards is 12mm x 1.50 ... this is NOT correct... It'll thread in but you'll f'up your crank. I had to retap the hole :\


SO, the correct size for that crank pulley bolt if you're taking it off or installing a UDP or whatever is:

12mm x 1.75 ... You can use a 120mm long bolt to pull with.

Just didn't want anyone to go through the horrors that it did.

It is 12mm X 1.75, i chased a thread that size today on my block. Trans to motor bolts are the same thread!

Thanks!! I can't seem to find 150mm long 12mm bolt to pull the crank pulley back on... I am going to rethread a 1\2" bolt to 12mm...Just needed the info so I can buy the right die...

Just as info, you can find that perfect size crank bolt, that is longer than the stock one, off of any GM Pickup truck. They use these bolts on the body mounts, that mount the cab to the frame. Whenever i see the guys at work installing some step bars on these trucks, i try and swipe the bolts lol.. They are grade 10.9 bolts too, so they are strong.

Homedepot sells threaded rod of the correct size.

They do??? I usualy find myself at Lowes and they don't have any...Maybe I'll check Home Depot out on the way home....

I bought my longer bolt at Pepboys a few years ago. I had to use a die to thread it all the way back to the head but they have them.
