#9785, "AFX TB? (kinda long)"

Sorry guys, another question about installation.. I noticed that my AFX 55mm TB came without a gasket? Do i use the old one? Will the old one be any good?? i have 100k miles on my car.. i was reading "chilton's mitsubishi repair manual" and they state to "prperly relieve the fuel system pressure" and to "drain the engine cooling system? Do i need to do all this shit? Please somebody who has changed their TB to the AFX 55mm explain how? My original guess was mark the wires/hoses/sensors, unbolt TB, and then put the new one on? -thx lee.

The whole job only takes 10-15 minutes. Just swap the sensor etc. over to the AFX and be careful not to strip anything. You will want to check your butterfly inside to make sure it is completely flat at WOT. about it!

Hey man, its seriously easy. 10-15 min. dont worry about the maual. no fuel or coolant involved. just remove your intake and move it out of the way. unplug the two sensors, remove the two bolts, unhook the throttle cable and off comes the TB. its that easy. do use a new gasket tho, 2-4 bucks. install is the same, only in reverse! good luck.

One thing that I must mention is that some times those bolts that hold the sensors in do not come out. I broke 3 torx drivers before taking it to the mitsu dealer and have them put their impact driver on it to get them of ... and they still broke a bit too! They didn't charge me anything to do it though. I know Joe (shogun98rs) had trouble with his and clobbered the sensor accidently.

If they don't seem like they are gonna come off I'd go get some one to take them off for you with an impact driver. If they come off pretty easy then you are luckier than me. emoji

what avenger is talking about is if your TB didnt come with the sensors already on it(i had mine bored so dont know how they come bought outright)you will need to re-use yours. if your 55mm TB has the sensors already, ignore the last post. if not make, sure you seat the o-rings good or you will get a cel for air leaks.

Don't forget to check to see if your throttle plate is all the way open when you push the gas pedal down all the way...i had to adjust my cable a little ..but it was a easy install and use a new gasket.
