Yesterday i changed the pvc valve on my 96 tsi. the old was clogged and extremely dirty. I didnt realize it until later, but when i accerlate wide open throttle, especially at higher rpms, the car feels like its misfiring. It didnt do this before i changed the pvc valve. Is the computer readjusting because it was so filthy??

I took out the pvc vavle again. it seemed a little clogged. so i went to he auto parts store and compared, the new ones were a lot looser. so i bought another new one. put it in, and took the car for a ride, same thing. i unhooked the battery for awhile. Next test drive, same thing. What is going on here? I've noticed that if the car is cold, it is fine, but when it gets hot, it seems to cut out when i try wide open throttle. It has the feeling of hitting the rev limiter or fuel cutoff or something like that. It cuts out and them comes back, cuts out and comes back. I never had the problem before initially replacing the pvc valve. Could it be soem kind of sensor that went bad.

Try putting your old PVC valve in, see if it gets normal again.

The PVC valve is just a checkvalve (and a sloppy one at that). The only thing i can think of is that it is not closing all the way. Are you getting any blowby? Checked your catchcan lately? If that valve sticks open, it allows boost to enter your crankcase which can cause all sorts of odd symptoms.

I put the old pcv valve back in, no luck. same thing. As i was driving today and tried to accelerate, it sounded as if the car popped or sputtered. I also noticed that the hotter the car gets, the worse the situation gets. If i try to step on it just enough to pass somebody, it just kinda sputters or breaks up or whatever and wont accelerate. Whats going on here? I checked the plugs and wires, they look good. Is it the ignition? maybe a new fuel filter? a sensor maybe????

thanx
