#97247, "Oil Consumption ETC"

Well, my car has been drinking oil like a sailor drinks beer lately. So today I decided to just open the hood and look alittle, and listen etc...
I can still not find a oil leak that is visable, BUT I noticed something much worse!
After I fixed a very LOUD exhaust leak, I could notice a sort of a knocking sound, or tapping when idling. Also that the car sounds like it is idleing alittle irratically.
I thought to myself, WTF?
So I go to my tailpipe, hold my hand after it and Yup, you guessed it, It is spitting oil on my hand!

So what do you guys suggest this is? Im gonna do a compression test on wednesday, Do you guys think I might have a ring problem or something like that?

Oh well, thanks for reading my LOOOONG post...

Check your compression first. Then do a leakdown, if you can. Other than that, like^^^^he said what is the color of the smoke?? Is it like pure liquid oil coming out or just carbon/water?? Does the coolant look normal?? I would think rings or headgasket right off hand if you have oil out the exhaust.

Now lets see...
I was out again today, HAvent had a chance to check comp yet, but I checked the exhaust again when it was warm, funny shit, no oil?? What is going on?
Also, There is NO smoke coming out the exhaust... Ill check cooland color as soon as the rain stops.
Now when you say it, It wasnt PURE oil,It was alittle watery gray-ihs shit...
But right after I checked it out today, It REALLY started raining, So we'll se when I can check compression...

Thats not oil thats normal condinsation. If you had oil comming out of your exhaust it would be blowing smoke too. That taping sound is bad unless it is just lifter tick. Try to figure out what cylinder is tapping. It sounds like rings or spun bearing. Also if your car is "drinking oil" it has to be going somewhere. If you are not blowing smoke then are thier any oil puddles when you let your car idle?

well, the thing is, that you cant hear the knock inside the vehicle, (I guess you never can?) But I have yet to have somebody help me and sit in the car and rev for me, but I think it gets drowned in other engine sound. (Belt whining, exhaust pipes etc) So I cant say... But its weird, cuz the car feels quicker than ever! how is that possible???

haha I dont know. If it is running smoothly like that, I doubt it is a rod bearing knocking. You could start your car, pop the hood, keep it in neutral, pull the e-brake, and rev your car from the throttle cable and listen and rev yourself at the same time. just follow the cable toward your throttle body which is behind the valve cover (only cable there) it is on a black round thing that has a spring wrapped around it, just pull on it (not the cable) on the black plastic piece or the metal stopper and listen from there. I am guessing it is a valve or lifter. I hope if it is a knock in the engine it is one of those.

Hehehe! WOW, I am SUCH a dumbass, ofcourse I can just pull the throttle in the engine compartement. I know exactly where it is, cuz at one time I accidentaly wrapped the breather tube from my C.A.I (before I cut it to the right length) around it, and My car was revving like a crazy person as soon as I fired it up emoji
O.K enough story telling.
So you dont thinkn it is a rod bearing? If it is a lifter Ill be happy, my new ones just came in two days ago. emoji
But it does sound irratical at idle though, sorta lopey almost?

Thanks for ALL The help.

My experience with I dont know probably 3 or 4 spun bearings is that I could here it in the car over everything. It isnt something that is a quiet tick. I dont know maybe mine were just more severe....

As far as the lopey idle you can make sure your timing marks line up and make sure all your vacuum lines are on good. Doesnt sound like it would be timing since you say it runs smooth other than idle.
