My car dies when I come to a stop. It was running fine all day yesterday and then I parked it for maybe an hour and went to leave. When I came to the top of my street at a stop sign I pushed in the clutch and the RPM's went down and just kept falling until the engine died.
I THINK it may be just an idling problem, I have a HRC kit with the vortech SFMU, I was wondering if I need to do something to that or is there an idle screw on the TB??

i happened upon this on the TechnoMotive web site while looking at ecu upgrades.
"The speed sensor plays an important role in the determination of engine idle speeds. Some people have reported that their cars mysteriously die when they stop at an intersection. After much pulling of hair, they finally determined that the speed sensor was broken. Without the speed sensor, the ECU will take the engine right to the normal idle point of 750 RPM. This speed is not enough to maintain a good engine vacuum supply for the power brake booster. The engine ends up dying because it is unable to idle at 750 RPM with that big of a vacuum load. For some reason, the factory does flag the error code internally, but fails to set the CHECK ENGINE light. We feel that decision ignored an important debugging opportunity."

i been getting a speed sensor code for a while, i have an a/t and it's on the throttle body, kinda facing the inside of the car, its connected by 2 bolts. If you got any local junkyards just go find a newer car and pick up a throttle body while you're at it since they prolly won't charge you extra for the speed sensor. If i recall correctly teh cheapest quote i got at the dealer was like $130, i picked up a t/b with both sensors for like $50 at the rastro.

what about a manual tranny?? Where is it then?? So do you guys think that is what my problem is?? I also have some kind of sensor on the back of the TB but I thought it would be in a diff spot from the A/T

i'm pretty sure it's not your HRC kit that's causing it. as for the speed sensor, i'm not exactly sure where it's located on an avenger, or an eclipse, to tell ya the truth, but the general location on the eclipse is on the back of the transmission (MT), but again, not 100% sure. try looking there first, though.
thanks vegasdsmr. some fool decided to pull out infront of me the last of october, so it really doesn't look that good anymore.
