Hey, I blew my boosted 420A engine with 110K on it. I just bought one with 64K. I have a year 96.4 I believe they call it? Because the ignition is 95 style anyways. I think the engine I bought was later than that, all it said was fits 95-99. I think it was an auto too (I have a mtx). Am I gonna run into any problems? Thanks alot fella's
96.4? never heard of that, but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist. 95-99's are the same engine wise and tranny. The only differences you may run into is the sensors, some of them may differ from 95/96 and the 97-99's. other than that, the engine is the same. and transmission doesnt matter, and as far as the sensors are concerned, the only 2 I know of that are different on the actual engine are the cam angle positioning sensor and the oil pressure switch. g'luck

I have never heard of 96.4 either, but who knows. The only issue I had was the oil pressure switch, just switch it out no problem. Other than that I dont recall any other changes. Oh ya, of course you have to use whatever coilpack style the car came with or switch it, but why. Everything else, including the tranny, should be fine. All you have to do is bolt on your flexplate and clutch, and away you go.
