Just did an oil change two days ago.

I've noticed a couple patches of oil on the floor. First thing i do, jack up the car and tighten the drain bolt. It seems better but its still leaking a small amount of oil.

I read up ,on the main page, about the oil change. "Replace the oil pan drain bolt". So my question is, can i just get this drain bolt at Home Depot or do i have to go to Satan? When i take off the drain bolt, can the oil still be poured back in with out replacing the oil filter?

While i was under the car i noticed that the crank pulley looked kinda chewed up. It had some cracks and uneven edges . . .

We are have to replace the drain bolt each time? Shit I have never done that and I always change my own oil. Even though I have never done that I have never had a probelm. The oil you are seeing might just be some you spilled and is just dripping down onto the ground. How big are the patchs, are you loosing allot of oil or does it look like little drops? The oil should be able to put back in but be very careful as to where you drain it to it has to be absolutly clean. If I had to do it I wouldn't use the same oil, too much shit could go wrong you might pick up some dirt. Use new oil IMO, but I baby the shit out of my car and I am really careful when it comes to oil. I don't need to spin another fucking bearing.

Well i actually didn't have a right size socket for the bolt. I ended up using some sort of adj. wrench. I'm gonna get the 17 or 18 mm socket so i can fully tighten it.

I spent about 10 mins just looking @ the bolt build up with oil.

you can prolly get it at any auto parts place. Are you sure it's tightened good? and did you wipe off the surrounding area when you finished??

Clay I'm not sure but I think when they say replace the oil drain plug they just mean put it back in. Chances are the oil is coming from someplace else. If you noticed, when you were taking out the drain plug to change your oil, the oil didn't really start draining much at all until the plug was completly out so chances are its not coming from the plug. Chances are you did everything right when you changed your oil.
