Hi guys!

I have a 1995 GS... I've taken it to at least 4 mechanics including a certified dealer. I bought a used ECU and and it does the same stuff. I wont idle correctly. The MAP, TPS sensor was changed and still the same problem. The TB and fuel system has been cleaned. Fuel filters are good. New wire and spark plugs have been installed. It does the same thing that happend to another of the guys in a video(I don't know how to post a file). Plus for whaetever reason, it gets stuck in second gear (AT). They told me at the dealer that it could be the ECU or the Crankshaft & Camshaft sensors. They also told the reason it stays in 2nd gear, beacuse the car goes into "safe mode". Have tried the key dance with both of my ECU's.

ECU 1 (original that came w/car)
11 (2 times, 12, 21, 23 (2 times), 24 & 46

ECU 2 (spare)
11 (2 times), 12 & 43

I think that the Cam & Crankshat sensors coul be faulty.
I need HELP!!!

--Nobody knows what's wrong with it. I' about to go nuts!!! emoji

codes (right from the factory service manual):

11= no crankshaft referance signal at pcm, or
timing belt skipped one tooth or more, or
intermittent loss of cam position sensor or crank position sensor.

12= battery disconected within last 40 drives (nothing, ignore)

21=either of the O2 sensors

23=Air intake temp sensor voltage to high or low

24=throttle positoin sensor voltage to high

43=multiple (or individual) cylinder misfire

46=charging system voltage to high

Ok, this is critical for getting a good diagnosis with the key dance.
If you, for example: while running, disconect a spark plug wire to check for a mis-fire, or disconect youre tps to see how the car reacts. youre going to get that code flashed at you. (#24 and 43)
So, before you do the key dance disconnect the battery and reset everything, then do the key dance. you should have olny code 12 followed bye 55.
Then start youre car and run it, rev it, try to drive, anything, just dont touch anything.
Then shut it off and do the keydance, and come back here and tell us what you got.

I forgot about this, i found it in the manual too for youre tranny:
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
If a problem which interferes with continuous safe operation of the transaxle is identified, the TCM records a diagnostic trouble code in memory, all solenoids are turned off, and the module is switched into limp-mode.
When limp mode is started, the transaxle is locked in 2nd gear if a drive gear had previusly been selected. Meanwhile, if P,R orN range was selected, operatoin is as usual.
If the ignition key is turned to OFF and then back ON, limp-in mode is canceled (a record is retained).

You should post in the automatic transaxle folder.

But before i turned that limp mode off, (if you can) i would at least check my atf fluid. Remmember check it hot and running.

thanks man!!!
I drove the car today for @ least 35 miles and no codes were registered on the ECM. It only got stuck on 2nd gear a couple of times. So I guess the TCM went on limp-mode (fail-safe mode). Also checked the oil while it was hot & the engine running, and the super-dupper dip-stick... shows that was full. What does this mean? Has my tranny been trashed???

Oh, by the way!!! I haven't cleaned the IAC yet. I'll let you know as soon as I do a road test again.
