This happens when I race the Car, specially in 2nd Gear, and I raised up to 6500 rmp, I did the change to 3rd in about 6900, then... the steering wheel was very hard and when I check the engine I saw the loose belt, this is the second time it happens to me, I already change the belt, but does happen again.
Thank you very much for any help!

You probably have a bent tensioner bolt or it was just loose to begin with. It is a common malady on the 420A.

Either that or your power steering pump pulley is out of alignment. Happened to me.

this happens to me also since i installed the afxupd.

i tightened the pulley on to 105 ft lbs, and it hasnt done it again, but im worried about racin.

what can we 420s do about this??

dino, u said something about the alignment of the p/s pulley, how can we change that?

what other things can we do to combat this problem?

Ok guys here is what happens....
the bracket and tensioner pulley are the culprits as to why you throw belts at high RPM. the bracket that hold the power steering pump bends after time therfore misaligning the pump pulley and causeing belts to be thrown off at high rpm. Also the tensioner pulley tends to wear excessively on one side when that pump bracket is bent. the pulley itself fails prematurely as well. the bearings in the pully go out and lets the tensioner pully go out of alignment as well as the pump pully. so the fix is to goto Mitsu and buy the upgraded bracket for around $50 to realign your pump pulley. if that doesnt fix your problem you will need the upgraded tensioner pulley as well. it is around $114. if you have a 98 or better you may already have this upgraded stuff on your car and wont need to worry about it. but most of us will. its a pain and should be replaced from a recall because loss of power steering in a PS car is BAAADDD when you are going 80 MPH. you can still steer but it really blows.

not long after i got the car, I was racing a 2001 bmw m3 2 seater, went to shift 4th gear and hit 2nd gear, redlined hard and threw the ps belt and then the ac belt followed at the same time... I am just so relieved I didnt bend some valves or anything.... I went to Autozone for replacement belts, got them for my car and went home...ac belt fit but ps belt was way off... previous owner upgraded the alt to a streetwires alt to help the stereo and battery out.. After a few tries, I got it and wrote down and saved the numbers for future use... now I removed the ac system and tensioner pulley assembly so I gotta go size em up again, bet it takes another 4-5 belts and trips to get it right emoji
