i was trying to remove my spark plugs and in my #1 cylinder when i removed my spark plug only part of it came out, i think it broke off the part which screws in the cylinder all that came out was the spark plug part in the middle... help me this is not a good week for me. do i have to remove the head and or valve cover to fix this or how does it work?

get one of those spring-loaded clamp things that have a 1 1/2 foot long rod with these little push/pull rings on one end. The other end has the 3 or 4 clamps that clamp onto stuff...I had that happen once and i was able to use a flashlight and manuever the clamp around the spark plug broken off in there, and I gripped the rings on the other end to tighten it down and yanked it rite out.

Can you do this? Or is the broken off piece still threaded into the engine? I hope it's not threaded, cause then you can do what I mentioned above....otherwise ya, you will have to remove valve cover/head assembly....

my friend who works as a mechanic is trying to remove it at his work, but he just told me ... if i cant remove all the particles and they fall inside thw hole i will have to remove the head to have it all cleaned out if not then when i start my car it will crank something piston etc?... how will the car run or drive if some particles fall in and mess something up? will my car run bad or not at all? im thinking if i got to open the head up might as well do a rebuild?

dino, when i go to pep boys what do i ask for ? exactly? will this really work even if its still treaded in there? gosh i dont believe i f**in strip it inside i always change my own plugs . cant believe something this easy went bad

WD-40 IS NOT A GOOD PENETRATING OIL. It is more of a lubricant. Use Liquid Wrench for a penetrations oil. MAKE SURE you put Anti-Sieze on the plug threads BEFORE you reinstall them, no matter if you are reinstalling old plugs or new ones.
The advertising of 100,000 mile tune-ups are going to have more of this happening. YOU DO NOT GO 100,000 MILES WITHOUT CHANGING YOUR PLUGS. The time and heat can cause them to sieze in the holes. Change your plugs, wires, etc BEFORE/AT 50,000 mile if you are going to try to extend your tuneups. This is just advertising BS to help you think you will not have to spend money on tuneups when you but a new car.

well, awhile back i had a similar prob... I was doing a compression check and i left part of the compression gauge that screws in the spark plug hole in there and went on and did the other 3 cylinders(not knowing what i did cause it didnt need the attatchment to work, wierd huh) anyways.. when I was done with my readings, I screwed the spark plug back into cylinder 1, crunch.... fuuuuukk.... shattered it, metal, porcelean, etc... all shattered intop my piston.. what a bitch... so It took me a day or 3 to get out the thing that was stuck in there(lots off good penetration oil, some heat, some backwards drill bits, some tools we modified, and we finally got it out... but still there was shit on top of the piston... so I said fuck it, i'm not pulling ther head... so I did what dino said, I used a treble light to see the best I could, I used a vaccume attatchment i made out of silicone hose i had left over, and i sucked out what i could... then i turned the engine over just quick enought to get the piston up as high as it'd go... then i put some gas in there and stirred it around... dunno if gas was a good idea, but i got it all mixed up so the pieces would float that were left over... then i sucked it all out, gas and all and called it a day.... did another compression check a week later and still same as before so I count my lucky stars......

to prevent this from happening coat your spark plug threads with anti seize compound and tighten them at about 18 ft/lbs. That's what I always do, it always takes a good deal of torque to break em out after a while though.

Even though it sez you don't need to coat with anti seize on the NGK box it's safer to do so.
