#95702, "Advanced help with power steering needed"

When my steering wheel is turned all the way to one side or the other, the power steering pump pulley freezes up causing a very annoying screech.

I've replaced my power steering pump, belt and the steering rack recently.

for the first 100 miles or so the problem was gone. Then its back again. According to the search tool on the site i've bled the system properly twice, no visible bubbles in the resivoir. No leaks on or near the rack either.

What could cause both the old and new pump to "freeze"?

one other note, the power steering seems to be not as easy as previous times and on occasion the pump will freeze during normal driving or while cold.

Any help would be appreciated.

-Eric

The C-clip that held the shaft & pulley in on mine came off, allowing the shaft to move freely. This caused it to lock up randomly, work randomly, and just act strange overall.

Maybe the pulley's out of alignment causing issues? Or maybe the belt's too tight?
