Sorry for the long post I am kind worried now all the questions are at the bottom if u want u may skip the reading of how I go to the problem.

Well I have some weird nock that comes form the rear right side of the car and that happens in different cases when I hit a big bump or make a right turn. The problem is it is not always there it is totally random. The trunk is empty and spare and the jack are tied down. So tonight I decide to go the local malls parking lot to do some turns and see if I can get that noise to come out. Well I tried by going in circles at may be 15-20 mph (not more than 2k rpm) and the way the steering wheel was turned it was covering the corner of the dash with the oil light. I noticed a red glare I was like wtf I stopped immediately and the light went off. I shut off the car check oil 1/4 down form full mark. I totally forgot that I read a while back about right turn on our cars. So to check out what is up with the light I decide to make a couple left circles the light stays off (no wonder it’s a left turn duh). So I decide to take another right turn. I get the car to about 20mph (again no more than 2k rpm) again turn the wheel 3/4 right and the light comes one immediately. At this moment I recall what I was reading on here, slam the brakes and start listening for any abnormal noises and the truth start to sink in. I realized that I just might have fucked up my engine. Thankfully I did not hear any abnormal noises. Thank god. I got home fine about a 3 mile highway drive.

I don’t think that those 2 times the oil light has been on for more than 3 sec and rpm was fairly low. So what should I be on a lookout for now to see if I did any damage? What test should I run? What are the things I need to buy to avoid this problem crank scraper and some special oil pan?

P.S.
Also the light came on as I was making a right turn @ 20 mph. This is the kind of a situation u might be trying to avoided an obstacle or something and just by trying to maneuver ur car out of harms way at an innocent speed u might f#$# up ur engine? I think Chrysler screwed this one up a lot.

Thanks for all ur help

When you made those long right handers under load, you starved the engine for oil. Not a good thing, but I'm thinking you'd know it if you spun a bearing. The reason the light doesn't come on during every day driving is because, in everyday driving, you're not putting consistent forces on the oil to pull it away from the pick up and keep it over there. So there might only be a momentary loss of pressure before it resumed full strength, or whatever.

You think the light made you nervous? You should try driving with a oil pressure guage installed. I will rarely take a right turn in gear anymore. I cringe every time I see the needle fall below 15psi. Ugh. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I'd say you're good to go, but maybe slow down a bit when you're trouble shooting things. A spun rod bearing will sound kinda like knock, but it tends to go away at idle, if I remember right. Something about how the rotating assembly settles into a rhythm. emoji

I think you're cool, man. Drink a cold one and rejoice. emoji

Are people really haveing this mouch trouble with right turns? i live in orlando and our roads a f-ed up as hell and on my way to work everyday getting on and off the turnpike i hit a hard right atleast twice. Everytime i go into the turn i think of our issue and i take it at about 40 but with my foot off the gas! (not sure if that matters) however, i have never had a light pop on or my oil gauge drop or anything because of it. i dont have a crank scraper and i know ive hit right turns faster than 20mph b4. i realise we have an issue with the oil starvation on hard rights but from what i can tell you have to be either doing donuts for a period of time or you need to be going into a hard right turn at a higher rate of speed than 40??? maybe im wrong but do alot of people really have this issue? ive read up on it there for im causious but it doesnt scare me to take that quick jog towards the right to avoid a tire or something in the road? maybe some of our cars were different. if i were you id make sure your oil is sitting at full all of the time. if your light is comming on, might make a difference on them turns
just my 2 cents

I had the light come on once before I rebuilt the motor. I was coming around this corner at about 40 miles and I was ON IT and the light came on.......meh. No noises or anything but after that I think I learnt NOT to tempt my motor into blowing emoji

Only time i've seen my pressure drop a significant amount is when i'm taking a sweeping right turn at a high of speed. Accelerating into a right turn from a stop does nothing.

Crankscraper is always a good idea, though.

My oil light came on once while I was going under a U-turn underneath a highway. I was on one side trying to get to the other side and I was facing the highway so I took a left and was coming up to the U-turn that turns right to go underneath it and I guess I was probably taking it at about 20 and the light came on. I was surprised by this so I quickly slowed down and took the next turn of the U-turn slower.

Kinda scary, but car still runs fine.

Everything seems to be OK. I drove to and form school and didn't notice any abnormalities. Thank you all for your replies It's good to know that I am not the only one who had that stupid light come one. The bad thing is that now every right turn i take I have to thing about slowing down.

I have no idea what y'all are talking about, but I've made a hard right U-turn at around 40-50 and had no light come on whatsoever.

Ive had the light pop on a couple of times, it only seems to happen to me if I put a major load on the engine when turning right. Thanks for this post, I thought i might have been the only one that has had this happen. needless to say, I take slow right turns now!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I figured the best way to fix this problem was baffles. Will a crank scraper do anything to help prevent this?

I doubt a scraper will do too much to help with starvation. The best way to eliminate the issue is to install the baffles.

uhm, is this only a turbo problem? because ive had my eclipse for 4-5 years now and ive taken a million sharp right turns, including the E-Brake alot, and i have NEVER once had my check oil light come on from a right turn. i got a 96 RS N/A. never had it happen, except i spun a rod bearing once cause i had a hole in the oil pan, but that wasnt from a right turn. so uhhhhhh

the idiot light doesnt respond fast enough imo. If you have an oil gauge you should see it.

I dont see it at all with the scraper.

hmm I've never had a problem with right turns and you see my car drifting all over the place. I don't think I've seen the light go on during a turn but then again I'm so busy not paying attention to my gauge and to my driving to notice I guess.

best thing to do I guess is to just make sure your topped off on oil all the time. Oh yeah I have an oil cooler I don't know if that extra quart makes a difference.
