#94840, "450cc injectors,225 walboro,FPR on 420a"

if anyone read the last post they found out that i had to drive my car for two and a half days with no FPR on with the new injectors and fuel pump. now this is my question i put the fpr on and set it to 30psi but my car is still running a little rich rich and my air/fuel gauge doesnt go back and forth anymore when at idle. it stays in the optimal range and sometimes goes to the rich side when i slam on the gas.my car also threw the code for running rich. it also acts crazy when i go to start kind of like a studder for about a minute or until i rev it then it drives like normal gas mileage is still good 400mpg. do you guys think the o2 are fried from two days of driving rich. if i lower the psi then the richness should go down right. my turbo will be going on this weekend will this also help it not be so rich becasue of more air being pushed into it. let me know thanks

thats the funny thing i get 400 miles to the tank but it still acts crazy at 7000 rpms like not enough air to suck in and when i slam on the gas it acts crazy also the fpr is turned all the way down. it wont go any lower than 45psi.; when i put the turbo on since its going to force more air in and change the o2 sensor anyone think that it will help with the richness its rich but not as rich as before.also the fpr will go up when i adjust it but wont go lowere than 45 psi. any help would be appreciated.

With 450cc's, and 255lph intank, you need to be around 18-20psi idle fuel pressure man. I bet your puffing some black smoke too, your running WAY too rich, thats your problem. Your o2 probably isnt burned out YET. You need a fully adjustable FPR or SFMU, some FPR's that are on the market now do not adjust under a certain point. In your case, looks like it might be 45psi. You need another FPR that will allow you to adjust below that point. What ratio FPR is it?

Also, putting your turbo on isnt going to change your a/f much at an idle, just when boosting.

where can i find a good fpr at.i guess i got a crappy one it will go up just not down i guess the base is 45psi. its not smoking alot just a little at idle. i looked at the aeromotive fpr but it only adjust to a low of 30psi and a max of 70psi at slowboy. thanks

isnt the aeromotive 1:1

i didnt see what kind of engine management you were using
but you might want to consider a rising rate sfmu and with injectors that size and
a safc

yes it is 1:1 but everyone is telling me something different for the psi on the fuel like from 18-50 so ive also been searching and have been finding some people are saying 33psi. i think i will get the aeromotive 13109 cause that is the majority of what people say is good 30psi to 70psi does this sound right or do i need to find some other fpr. also i just pulled the blue topps to find out if anything was wrong with them and one is jacked up the plastic tip has a piece broke off of it im kind of a BANME! to fuel so is this bad (my instinct tells me yes) or will it be alright if i keep it on. till i get a new one. thanks

also i think im going to go with the 390cc injectors instead of the 450cc. would these be fine with the t25 im putting on my car this weekend or would the 450cc be better.

the stock ecu cannot control that big of injector
310s are the biggest that it can do
without some sort of help
it will run rich

the aeromotive raises fuel psi 1lb for every lb of boost

with that big of injector you are going to have to turn down your idle fp way down. i do not know how much because my injectors are not that big.

so lets say that you have to run your injectors are 20psi
and run 5 lbs of boost
that is only 25psi of fuel pressure
not enough because the injectors are rated to spray at stock fuel pressure, therefore you wont get as much fuel as the injectors are capable of.

that is where the rising rate comes in
a 12:1 will raise fuel pressure 12psi for every 1 psi of boost
you may have to experiment with correct size springs and the like

now please realize that i do not know everything, but i have been reading this board for over a year now however i have been out of the car game for a while so some of my info may be shaky so if i said something not quite right someone please let me know

i could have sworn i read somewhere that the biggest injectors our stock ECU can handle were the 450cc's or 440s? emoji

well i think im going to switch out the 450cc for the 390cc because now that im looking at them two injector tips are jacked up one has a crack on it and the other is chipped good. will this hinder it because now that i think about it it will have a wider spray and it wont be straight out will it. like i said im dont know fuel system very well but am trien to learn. i know its not good if the tips are broken or cracked. aslo im going to go with the vortech fmu but what size one should i get. i dont think the 12:1 will work very good. any info would be greatly appreciated.

you can use the 450's (another set) with no problem, however, you need a fully adjustable FPR. Your FP does NOT need to be 35psi with 450's dood. It has to be around 15-22psi at idle, thats the reason your running rich, period. Your injectors can be fucked up still and not spraying correct, but your high fuel pressure is not helping it. Your turbo size is not going to matter depending on what size injector yuo pick, it depends on the turbo/boost combination really. If your going to run 16+ psi, i would keep the 450's. I ran 18psi on 440's all last year pretty much. This year, I just bought some 510's and I am using the SFMU and S-AFC.

If you want a 1:1 Aeromotive FPR, PM me, I can get pretty good deals on them from a friend I know who works at summit racing.

holla~

Go with the 450. Set idle at 12psi and put the 2.72 disk in. Turn the bleed screw about 2.5 turns and there ya go:thumbsup

This would be your rev limiter... it's actually 7200 rpm, but I am nearly certain this is what you are experiencing. Not unusual at all...
