#94553, "air/fuel reading, rear 02 sensor, and questions"

yes it's been a while since i have been on. so here's the deal. car's been chillin at home for 2 years and just got it out here in texas now. well, CEL is on for the rear bank 02 sensor (i.e. cat is crap). also, my air/fuel gauge (autometer led blinky blinky) never wants to read rich. when warming up it will read barely rich but while driving or long trips, it will almost never go past stoich or reach stoich. tomorrow i am going to slap on the 1M ohm 1/4 watt resisitor to fix the CEL on the rear o2 sensor. so the other question, could my rear o2 sensor causing the CEL cause my car to be running lean like it is? i've replaced the front o2 sensor about 2 1/2 years go, around 85,000 on the car, 95,000 on it now, but even then, still pretty much the same reading. so any help and insight is greatly appreciated. thanks alot guys.

The rear o2 sensor has nothing to do with the a/f ratio. Usually when your front o2 sensor goes the ecu makes your engine run rich. Weird!

yeah, i've known all of that. the problem is, that my a/f is not like it used to be back in the day. it never goes rich now. not when idling, not when at WOT, just never. just trying to see why.

It means your front o2 is probably shot too. Sometimes they won't throw a code until they are really messed up. If you go look in your logger you'll probably see some screwed up fuel trims (pegged).
