Well i got the news on my car today.....I screwed the rob bearings and the crank up bad. They said it would be $800- $1000 (that includes labor)....does that sound like a reasonable price? O-h well, wish i had been smart and pulled right over when the oil light came on.....then i could have been using that money for some more mods!

Well atleast you can replace the bearings. I went so long with my spun bearing I the engine finally blew on me. So I don't think $800 is bad if you compare it to what I was going to have to pay. They said around $5,000 to do mine but I got it under warranty after allot of bitchin and complainiing.

Look at it as an opportunity.

You'll have the motor apart. Excellent time to install an AFX pulley, or lighten the crank, or throw in some high compression forged pistons (They're only $450-500 with rings, and you can get standard bore), prep your stock rods, etc..

If it breaks, you can always install something better. How do you think some of us ended up as modded as we are?

Yea, i was thinkin about doin some stuff too it while its apart. The problem with that is that i dont have any money at all. My parents are paying for it and then i have to pay them back. And i already asked them if they would give me about $500 more so i can do some stuff to it while its apart. Well that didnt go over! So much for putting anything new on it right now.

well it sounds like your getting a short block to begin with so you may as well ask them to give you the stuff you want instead cause it's gonna cost just as much

I doubt he is getting a new block just because he spun the bearings. Do you know how bad it is, becuase I know there is a way you can take the crankshaft out and everything and grind it down and put oversized bearings and shit on it. If they aren't doing that I am willing to bet they are putting a new crank and pistons in, no need for a whole new block if he didn't poke a huge ass hole through it like my ass did.
