Hey everyone.

I have a 97 RS with 104000 miles on it. few mods, nothing special : intake, pulleys......

I m driving on the interstate yesterday night and start to accelerate hard when my freakin car loses almost all its power and this "clicking" sounds comes from the engine. I immediately think about oil. I changed it 1500 miles ago so it s kinda weird. Anyways I am less than 1 mile away from home so I put the car in neutral and slowly make my way to the house. I check the oil when I get there and fuck yeah, I don't even have an ounce of liquid in there !!! So first thing this morning I put some oil in Mr Car.....still the same clicking sound. My rpms go slowly up to 5k but the car barely accelerates. Now i don t want to start it and fuck it up more but I don't know what to do....any ideas of what I can check/change/do ???

alright, couple of helpful people in the chat room told me i spun a rod bearing....So basically now what are my options ? I don t know too much about rebuilding engine and crap so I ll probably take the car to a shop but i don t want them to screw me over.....

well you don't have many options other than rebuliding it yourself...eveything you need to know:

or take it to a shop. . You could look for a good used engine...but that's a gamble and you still have to swap it out yourself or pay a shop. Either way, you either have to have deep pockets and a trustworthy mechanic, or slightly shallower pockets and some skills of your own. good luck

'98 Talon...gone, but not forgotten

Sounds like you spun a bearing. At best, you're looking at having the crank reground for larger bearings. At worst, you've munched it and bent a rod or two, savagely scoring a cylinder wall in the process. Either way, the engine will have to come out and either be rebuilt or replaced. You might see if you can find a decent, used shortblock (just the block without the head), and get quotes on having the engine replaced.

Of course, there is still the issue of where the oil went...
