I need to replace my factory exhaust as it has rotted out. I am thinking about buying a dc sport or greddy header and cat back. How long do these units usually last before needed to be fixed or replaced? I know they are S.S. but fabrication may differ. Also, while doing this I figured I might as well get a high flow cat. What brand do you guys recommend? My main concern is not having my non-turbo eclipse sound like a honda lawnmower.

The SS exhaust should last longer than your car.

I hear getting a high flow cat makes you car sound like crap, which is why I haven't invested in one.

This all depends on what you consider a high flow cat. if you are looking at ebay high flow cats then yes you may be disappointed at how your car sounds. if you buy an actual larger cat then the sound wont be too much different. I myself have a 3" high flow cat that looks like a stocker only its larger and it doesnt change the sound too much at all.

A true stainless exhaust will last a gret deal longer than your stock exhaust. I would venture to say more than 7 years.

It's too bad Borla stopped making the Catbacks for our cars. sure they were a little more pricy than most competitors. But polished SS with a million mile warrantee against everything (except damage obviously), now that's a good deal. Not to mention they have a great sound.
