well a few days ago my battery light came on for about 5 seconds, got home and checked it and it was #46, which is a high voltage or whatever from the alternator. No problems since then, and then tonight when i turned my high beams on my radio shut up for a second, and came back on..and i tested it like 4 more times and it kept doin it...im gonna get the alternator checked tomorrow at autozone but just wondering if anybody else thinks it'd be somethin else, thanks

That sounds exactly right, Sometimes if the voltage is to low brake lights will even make the radio shut off. It does that becaause theres not enough power to supply them both. If your alternator tests ok check all your connections, and if you leak oil make sure the plug is'nt filled with oil and make sure the inside of the alternator is'nt filled.

Your problem is in the chassis wiring I believe. Try checking all your relays switches and grounds pertaining to these two components. I'd also trace the wiring for each if you don't find it in the previously mentioned areas.

Yes a bad ALT or bad Voltage Regulator can cause voltage to spike or drop but if it's working to run the car and charge the battery there would be no way the battery voltage would drop that far to turn off your radio when you hit your Hi beams.

If your voltage was low enough to cause these symptoms you would be needing a jump to start your car. Because your battery would have to be supporting your whole vehicle and voltage would have to drop below 9v (if memory serves me right) to shut off your radio at any time (lower if your just listening to the FM waves).

for voltage to drop that low while running either you busted a belt or your alt is bad and you have drawn your battery's voltage too low to be able to operate both the lighting and the radio.

My light came on one time. Ended up the belt had popped off the pully.

I also had a similar problem with my radio. It shut off whenever I hit the brakes. I never did find out what the problem was although I hasn't returned since my alternator fried. emoji coincidence..I think not

Last week I was driving to work and my battery light came on. Drove for an hour to work shut the car off, restarted and light was out with no loss of cranking power. Hasn't came back on since.

It's a demon I tell ya emoji
