Does the knock sensor have any thing to do with the car starting. I found a little bit of bare wire on the knock sensor right at the connector, and I was wondering if that could have anything to do with the random death of my car? I have checked every wire harness except for the one under the intake mani. I even soldered a new connector onto the crank sensor to no avail. I am complelley stumped on this I have also changed the ecu and it still does this.

It could be possible? If it's grounding/shorting in a way that is sending a freak signal to the ECU making it pull massive timing.

the reason I put a new connector on is because the sensor came with it, and I figured it couldn't hurt. The car sarts fine but after driving for a while it dies sometimes, not only at wot but part throttle too, I can't find any solution to this with out a cel which I don't have, somebody shoot me please.

I don't have a schematic in front of me, but if it shares a ground circuit with one of the sensors which will cause a no-start (CAS or CPS) an intermittent short could cause instant death.
Another thing to check, if you haven't already, is the ASD and fuel pump relays on the firewall. ASD = Auto Shut Down. If one of them is loose, it could come undone randomly over bumps and whatnot.

REPLACED WHAT? These electrical problem threads are gold for future generations. Best to describe your solution thoroughly and make the board that much better.
I tore my hair out tracking down my electrical problem and it took a lot of love out of owning the car. Save others from having to go through that.

the asd realays, all of the sensors, minus the iat sensor and the ect sesnor and the ecu. almost everything else has been checked and inspected. as far as my original question, I don't think the knock sensor could ground against anything, the bare spot is right at the connector. I'm going to check the final wire harness below the intake mani today. I'll post my results when I am done. wishe me luck as this will be a beyotch!!
