#92857, "Need some help"

Alrighty, so I was wanting to show my brother how "fast" (or slow) my car is, so I took him on a country road and floored it. It was driving fine after that for about a mile or two when all of a sudden, I heard "tick-tick-tick-knock-knock-BANG-BANG". I'm thinking, "Great, I spun/threw somthing". Turned out, it was just the accessory belt broke on one of the ridges and started whipping the hood which was making the loud noise. So I figured that if I just cut off the part that was whipping around, I'd be ok to make it home. So I start driving and then my battery light comes on. Apparently the alternator belt was so loose that it wasn't even getting traction on the alternator pulley. How did these two thing happen at the same time, on two seperate belts? Also, is all that's going to need to be done is replace the belts/re-tighten back the alternator? I'm really really hoping so. Thanks in advance!

-Chris

replace the belts and make sure the tensioners are working , as long as you can tighten down both belts to where you get nomore than 1/2 play between the longest distance between pulleys you should be ok, the alternator light will def come on if the belt is not doing its job, as far as messing anything up you should be fine. for future reference a little preventitive maintance will prevent these things in the future. $20 tops in parts, not worth letting go!!!

Haha, no way I'd ever let my nt go. It's the only good looking car I've ever owned! Thanks!
