Its kinda complicated, but i will do my best to explain.... Fusible link "ENGINE" witch is a 30amp on my 420a talon blew as i was driving up Route 1 at 70 mph completly shuting off the car. i have since looked threw the chrystler manuel and have be traceing out wires, looking for shorts, this has gone no where. i can let the car run for thirty minutes at idle nothing happens after driving it goes. i had thought perhaps the fan would kick on and it would over load it, it does not, i bought a new starter, simply because mine would draw 100 amps when i would crank it... this lead back to square one. The problem seems to only accure when i go full trottle and about 6,000 rpm it blew. i wonder if the coil over heats and cant handle the load? i really do not know what to do. if anyone could let me know of any ideas that would be great

This is not advanced at all but check the wire harness that runs along your EGR tube. That is known to melt wires. It will get hot at high speeds. best time so far 14.3 @ 101.1mph(no traction) www.cnnmotorsports.com

that is one big reason among many to not have a POS EGR system on these cars.

Try looking at the driver side of the valve cover. There should be a noise surpressor there. Its should be about an inch long, silver in color and have 1 wire coming out of it. I had the same problem with my car and ended up that the wire had broke loose. It would make contact sitting there but as soon as the car moved it would short out and blow the fusible link.

k ill check that i checked the egr, no dice i just snatched of the alternator. i dont know what esle would be able to blow a thiry amp link like that im hoping maybe a diode died in it. if this dosent work then im shooting it....

One of your engine sensors is shorting power to engine block ground. Find the melted wire and/or stripped wire. 90% of the time it's on the right side of the head, melted to the EGR tube.

Try checking the capasitor (I think thats what it was) that is on the valve cover. The exact same thing that happened to you happened to me too and thats what it was. The reason it most likely doesn't blow the fuse at idle is because there probably isn't enough vibration to cause it to short the wire to the nearest part of the body that it hits. Here is a picture of where my problem was. It might be in a different location for you becasue mine is a 95.
