I have the gst catback right now and I love the power gain it gave me, but i'm wishing it was a little louder. I just need some suggestions on what I could do to make it this way. What about getting 2.25 in piping (i think stock is 2 in), and if so would just the cat back section of 2.25 in piping be okay. I just dont want to have to spend $300 on a greddy system. Thanks!

Edit: Well now that I think of it, did that gst cat back upgrade make my piping 2.25??? Well I dont know for sure, so I guess anything that'll make my exhaust system louder!

The stock exhaust is 2.25" A good upgrade (non-turbo) would be 2.5" catback. It seems that anything larger then that and you gonna be loosing back-pressure. You could go to a muffler shop and have them bend you 2.5" cat-back and have an aftermarket muffler welded onto the end.

Glad to see i'm not the only one awake at this hour.

It's all goal dependant. If you just want it loud, take it to a muffler shop and have them cut the resonators and premufflers out and replace it with straight pipe stock. It'll sound like shit, but it'll be loud for sure.

If you don't want it to sound like ass, spend the $250 and get a cheap stainless mandrel ebay catback. They're 2.5" and sound decent from what i've been told. Look up nissangtrpower's ebay store, he sells tons of these things and has shittons of feedback.

Is the gst MUFFLER the exact same thing as my stock rs one or is it the piping that gave me the upgrade to my performance? Because I want to keep the muffler but maybe upgrade the diameter of the piping to give it a little deeper tone. I just want my exhaust to sound a little bit more deeper. I have a universal Skunk2 muffler on my car before this gst one and it was so freaking loud inside and out I couldnt stand it (and maybe it was just psycological, but i swear i lost power from it as well).

The GS-T muffler flows much better than our stock NT mufflers and are able to handle more power (somewhere in the range of 200hp). The piping is the same diameter, though. Also, the GS-T exhaust system has an extra resonator, so if you installed the GS-T catback, it will sound quieter than if you just installed the muffler. If you can, I would replace the piping from the cat to the axle with the stock piping and just put on the GS-T muffler. It will definitely sound a little louder/deeper this way. I don't know if it'll be as loud and deep as you want it to be, but there'll definitely be a difference.

increasing your piping diameter isnt gonna have that much of an effect on how loud or deep your exhaust tone is. that is tuned by resonators and mufflers. if you want a loud 2.5" muffler i got one for ya. i just took it off my car because i supposed im getting too old and wanted somethign quieter. its a DTM muffler made by pilot. has dual 3" tips and already has the hanger. LMK if your interested...its plenty loud but has a deep, bold sound...very little rasp.

Sorry guys I should have clarified this right away, I do just have the axle back section of the gst exhaust. I'm at work and I just had my girlfriend drive away heavier on the gas than normal and I'm afraid to say that I feel it sounds kind of raspy. I never really hear it because usually i'm in it when its being driven and the noise I just heard is a little dissapointing. If I cut out that resonator in between the cat and the muffler and just replace it with a straight pipe will that make it even more raspy? I just thought I should let you guys now too that I have exhaust leaks around my cat and both resonators; could some of the raspiness be coming from that and could I just put some jb weld on there to seal it up? Thanks for all your input so far!

our cars are kinda raspy from the factory. if its still raspy with the GST exhaust then cut out your stock resonator and weld in a 24" resonator. should take the raspiness right out...but it will make it quieter, which is unfortunate in your case.

Well will it make the tone a little deeper with the 24" resonator?

I don't think that anything that anybody here will say will sway you one molecule from where you stand now, but might I recommend getting a CD of a V8 rumbling along, and playing it really loudly?

Why do you want your car to be loud? I would be happier to have my car be silent and fucking fast, than would I be to have my car slow as shit and obnoxiously fucking loud.

Do you want a car that is quick, or a car that sounds like it might be quick?

<bangs head on keyboard>

Just get a 3" cat-back. Your car will be as slow as a piece of shit rolling down the hill, but it will sound fucking fast!

I dont want it to be as loud as your making it sound like. I just want it to be noticable that I have somewhat of an aftermarket exhaust sound. Dont come on here and just make statements that make me sound like a fucking idiot that wants really loud exhaust! All I was asking for was suggestions from people, not comments like yours
