I saw this add in Turbo Magazine.. and other magazines for this product called SpiralMax. (http://www.spiralmax.com)

They claim "0 to 35 increase in horsepower, 0 to 31.85% increase in fuel economy."

And it's only 60 bucks.
And it supposedly is installed in your intake?

Have any of you heard of this? Anyone tried it? It seems like its worth the risk.. since it's only 60 bucks.. with 30 day money back gaurentee but i'd like some feedback. Plus.. i'm not too sure about installation.. and the website is pretty non-descriptive of the procedure.

Plus, i don't know what they want me to measure to find the size if i order.

its Garbage man.. dont buy it.. they claim this and that.. when u ask real people they tell u its crap.. i heard that on a stock car it might work a lil.. but most cars its worthlesss if it was so great why dont stock cars come with it.. since they are all about economy and gas mileage.. and everyone would buy one.. plus u dont want one of them lil fins to be sucked into ur intake man...

I think the key part to their claim is the 0.

The concept of creating a vortex in the intake path is not a bad one. Many high rpm racing engines use some sort of system to create a vortex or use a trumpet system to catch the intake air in pulses. When you create a vortex in the intake plenum and intake runners, you can more effectivly pick up fuel or mix fuel with air. It is a great idea, but the Spiralmax and tornado stuff just dont do it right.

I used two spiralmax units in my cold air setup Iceman intake. I really could not tell if there was a performance increase. It was one of those, "I think it feels faster." I also drove from Memphis, TN to Chicago, IL with them installed. (I went to Chicago to party with friends for a week, not to test Spiralmax) I was able to get 450-500 miles on one tank of gas and still have enough fuel left to find a gas station. My average speed was 80 mph. I ended up returning the Spiralmax units for a refund anyway. I do think the idea is good, but someone who knows what they are doing has to develop a good system. I have never been able to get that type of highway fuel mileage after I took those things out of my car. I live in Florida now, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I also know that GMC vortech engines used in many GMC trucks have a factory system that creates a vortex in the intake plenum. They claim that the Vortech V6 engine perform like a small V8 due to this. Nice claim, and my friends GMC Jimmy does perform well, it is no V8.

Getting 450-500 miles on a tank is average for my car. 16.9 gallons times around 30 is like 500ish. Plus I usually get around 34 mpg on the interstate going 79.

yea i got about 450 miles per tank when i drove up to NY in the hot summer.. from fl.. prob would of got more but i didnt let it get too close to E.. and i also got lost a few times and was in stop and go areas.. it was a stock engine then

It may work if u just bought a small electric 12V fan and installed it and tapped a wire. You could flip a switch and have a fan turn on in the intake pipe and create a vortex or help cool the air more. Just an idea?

then why not get a fish tank pump, hook it up the second input on the cai, or drill in your own, hot wire it and have forced cold air? hehehe
