#90984, "VERY bad idle..turning AC on = perfect idle?......"
i put up a post awhile ago about how bad my idle is...its fine when you first start it (obviously just a lil high at like 1.2k rpms til it gets warmed up) ...but once it gets like half-way warmed up its VERY,VERY lumpy....well now its hott out and today i noticed that my idle was perfect...like 800 rpms, wasnt movin at all...so im like wtf?, and i noticed i had my AC on...so i turned it off, went bad to complete shit again...i did this like prob 4-5 times just to make sure it wasnt a coincidence...its been 2 the mechanics and he said he coudlnt find any vac. or exhaust leaks, and all the sensors seemed to be working fine...lol but hes also a mechanic and we all know how they are, and he also said he thinks it would be internal and its 165$ just to take it apart and look....so thats a lil sketchy, so im tryin 2 figure this out on here or my own (which prob wont happen lol)....whats every1 think?

Check the IAC. When the AC turns on the ECU will kick open the valve letting a little more air past the throttle plate to compensate for the energy the AC compressor sinks from the crankshaft.

well that would explain why the rpms go up and stay at a constant level...but it doesnt explain why the rpms are lumpy and jump up and down (lower than 800) to begin with....thanks tho i didnt know that

well i replaced the IAC, same problem...would it have anything to do with the air intake temperature?....i dunno what to even look for...so far i replaced the IAC, checked the TPS, and fixed the only vacuum leak i could find...any more ideas?

hey, i have the same prob. but my idle is too high. ac brings it down to a 1000... i have a jeep tb on it tho... gosh. this car has so many problems.
Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related. Step 1: Put down everything in your hands. Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it. Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you. If not. Go here: here
If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

well thats kind of the opposite of mine then if the idle is high lol..mine was high a few days ago when i got a leak where the TB meets the intake mani, but i fixed that...i just cant figure out why the AC makes the car idle good..it stays relatively in the same rpms, just like 10x smoother...can some1 explain 2 me exactly what happens when the AC turns on?
