Maybe someone can clarify for me. I've heard that the SRT-4 motors are very similar to the 420a Eclipse/Talon motors. Maybe it has some truth since the 420a is a chrysler engine ne how. Is there any chance the SRT could be swapped into the N/T 2g???

blocks are very similar yea, chrysler never really ventured off the platform even from the old 2.2/2.5's to the 2.0 sohc and dohc blocks to the 2.4 NA caravan/jeep/cirrus block to the 2.4 turbo block in the srt-4 and cruiser gt.

one way to "swap it" is to get a 2.4L NA block from a 95-99 caravan/cirrus/breeze/jeep 2.4 (NON TURBO) and put in the srt-4 pistons and rods. the 2.0L 420a in the eclipse/talon shares the bolt pattern and can be used.

lots of engine, and electronic modifications have to be done to get it to work, however. as well as a few other custom parts like an oil pan and motormount. (use the search for more on that) but with the carvan 2.4L NA block, and srt-4 pistons/rods, with a 420a dohc head...you 'sort of' have a srt-4. (bare bones). in my opinion, this union is actually a lot more efficient..but i wont get into that.

so a little backround, but the answer to if you can swap it or not, is 'not really', and the other answer is NO, the 420a dohc 2.0 block is not an srt-4 motor. it is chrysler however, and yes...like brian said they are very similar but dont all work with eachother, just some do. im sure with enough fabrication skills and know how, anything can be done.
