#90714, "does anyone elses car puff a nice white cloud when started?"

im just wondering. for about 4 months now my car when i start it every time will shoot out a decent size cloud of white smoke. after like 2 sec it goes away and doesnt smoke at all.. but it does this every time i start it. even b 4 i ever turboed it. it did it through my regular exhaust and now since i have a straight side pipe it looks even worse. im just wondering what it could be? i dunno if its un burned gas or what. the car does not burn any antifreeze or oil. and its stops almost right away. its just this one cloud on every start up .

91 civic hatch, homemade turbo+ LS motor = 12 sec street car.

Sounds like your valve seals are leaking just a tad. When you start the car, youre just burning that small bit of oil thats getting into the chamber. Its not a big deal and I wouldn't worry about it.

If it were burning oil the smoke would be blue... Its probably just steam. Is it a clear white? If it goes away really quickly its not burning anything and its just steam which is normal.

first of all that wasnt even my car . it was my dads talon. 2nd it was stuck on a busy highway. i think u would do the same to move it to safety.. next time i need your 2 cents ill ask u personally. but unless you are actually gonna answer the question then dont even bother posting.

any for those who did answer thanks. and ya its white smoke . not blue or black. its just when i start it one puff but its noticable. then it goes right away.
