I used generic 10W-30 from Advance Auto. I bought a couple big cases, because I changed it about 8 times in the first 5,000 miles. I went through about 4 filters too. After that, I switched to Mobil 1 10W-30. I figure its best to buy cheap stuff and change it very often during the break-in. I had high and even compression after the break-in.

Yep, just use regular oil for breakin, but if you want to switch to synthetic, do that at 3000 miles or so. I used Mobil 1 normal 5w-30 for breakin, and after 3k miles, i use Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30

The mods are correct. You'll want to use regular conventional oil (not synthetic) to help the rings (and other things) in seating properly. 10w30 is good. I tried straight 30w (what I typically use for v8's), but it's too thick for our stock lifters. I don't think they could fully pump up with it (I changed it after the initial 30 mins and they quieted up a lot). After you've changed the oil several times and are above at least 2k miles, then switch to synthetic if you so choose to.

Just get some shitty house brand.. like Autozone 10w30 or 10w40. Youre going to change your oil a lot and there is no sense in wasting money on Mobile 1 5w30.
