#90234, "my car won't start and there's a whistling sound...no, I dont have a Turbo"
Well, I didn't drive my car for a day, and when I tried to start it up, the car went completely dead...won't turnover, headlights won't come on, etc.
First I thought it was the battery, but when I was driving it after a "jump", I noticed a distinct whistling sound. So, is my problem the alternator, the battery or both?

If the battery was dead and you jumped it ,then drove it around then the alternator is apperantly charging.
Did it start back up after you got done with your drive?
This wistling noise, maybe your alternator going full on trying to keep the car running with a toasted battery?Slipping belt?
Did you check for a key off battery draw?Take off neg cable and hook a test light up between the neg terminal of the battery and the neg cable.look for a really bright light and if so then somethings on or shorted and drawing down the battery.
