Okay I'm putting a complete, new, aftermarket intake system. It's the piping and filter and all that yada yada. As I'm going to install it, I find that there is a hose leading down towards the exhaust that plugs into the stock filter box, but there is no place for it on the aftermarket intake. All the hose is doing is drawing air from the intake down into the exhaust...for emissions I'm guessing? I went and looked at a breather for it but could not find one that would fit the hose, the mechanic working there told me some kind of pipe that wuold fit inside the hose to connect the breather would work...but I have no idea where to find that (for now).

So, basically my question is...is it OK to leave this hose open until I can find a breather? The car still runs fine without it.

I beleive I have the post that answers your question. I think that hose should've been removed: check w/satan to see if you have an open recall. REad this post first, I think this regards the part you are speaking of:

Yep that's exactly what I'm talking about. The car was a one-owner before mine and he didn't mention anything, so I doubt he did the recall. I doubt he even knew about it.

The recall should be free, correct? And will a Mitsu dealer take care of it? Or only the Dodge?
