The proper way to fix this is to run the clutch pedal switch inline between this wire and ground, so that it is only grounded when the clutch pedal is depressed. Grounding it will work for now, though. I'm glad I dug out that information for nothing...
I tried this using the ATX relay and it worked backwards. I would crank when the pedal was not mashed, and would not when it was. The switch closed the circuit when it was not mashed, but opened it when it was. I just soldered a round wire clamp to the black and yellow wire and grounded it to the metal frame that runs inside the console. Just have to be careful and not try to crank in gear.
