My car is only misfiring at idle any reason why this would happen. It runs smooth as glass at any acceleration but sometimes at idle it misfires. I've been reading through the posts and someone said it could be the crank angle sensor, is this possibly the cause?
Thanks,
-Brian

check your plugs. gap them properly.

check your wires too.

Is it missing like running on 3 cylinders? If so pull each plug wire off the plug and take it right out.

If the motor runs the same then the cyl you pulled the wire off of is where your problem lies.

Most likely a wire imo.

I took my egr out completely. The only reason why I know its misfiring is the cell light is flashing sometimes at idle. Car doesnt sound different, and is fine when im driving.

I have the same problem eclipse7782. Maybe some of this can help.

My ECU throws code 43 and a flashing CEL only when the car is idle. When the car is moving it seems as smooth as ever and the CEL stops flashing. I noticed a couple of things:

1. If the car is stopped and the CEL starts flashing, I can rev the engine a couple of times and the CEL will stop.

2. If I turn on the AC and the condenser fan comes on, the CEL will stop flashing. When the fan stops, the CEL will start to flash again.

Checked or changed so far:

* changed oil and filter
* cleaned air filter
* new plugs gapped to .048
* swapped Magnecor wires with stock
* swapped MSD coil with stock (both were resistance tested)
* resistance tests on IAC, MAP, TPS, Coolant Temp, upstream O2, Air Temp (all seem OK)
* checked IAC to see if the plunger moves (OK)
* new fuel filter
* injector cleaner in tank
* flush and fill radiator with about a 30/70 mix of coolant and distilled water with Water Wetter added later.
* I checked the cooling system again for air bubbles but couldn't find any. Also, the thermostat seems to be fine.
* changed vacuum tube on throttle body and the section going to the metal tube on the EVAP system.

Next on the list is possibly a bad injector on cylinder 4 (the scanner shows P0304) or maybe something in the ignition circuit before the coil. I haven't found any tests for the CAM or Crank sensors yet.

I can't figure out why turning on the AC helps. Does anyone know if the engine timing changes with the AC? Or maybe the extra air from the condenser fan helps, meaning that something in the cooling system is still not right. I even thought that maybe the fan is cooling down the coolant temp sensor or O2 and stopping them from sending faulty readings to the ECU.

I also have an exhaust leak from a hole in the flex pipe. Could that have anything to do with it?

Thanks
