#89449, "Did i just break my tranny?"

I've been so excited to finally have my motor all in and getting to connect the last parts up and getting ready to fire the car up for the first time in about 1 and a half years...........well i noticed my shifter cable wasnt hooked up (ATX) so i decide to hop in the car and move the lever around to match up the spot to the previous area where it was connected..so my brother bolts the bolt up to where it was before and he's like ok it's done.......so its the neutral position.......i decide to put it back up to park so i can take my keys back out and all of a sudden my brother screams "oh shit it snapped!" I take off to look and the whole bar/plate area that the shift linkage connects to breaks off right as it enters the transmission!!!!! Is this common? I didnt have to apply any pressure whatsoever while i put it in park and it shifted very smoothly. Did i totally just screw my tranny? I have this to figure out put my cold air intake on and fire my engine up!!!!!! Please let this be replaceable!!!

As long as you didn't break anything down in the tranny it should be fine and very replaceable. Your talking about the cable link with the cotter pin in it on top of the tranny just below the battery tray right?
