$160 Pulley
$50 used TB (unless you can afford downtime without your TB)
$100 bore TB to 55mm
$100-$150 Universal Muffler
$150 custom mandral bent piping and install cat-back exhaust

That would be my ~$600 plan.

Bingo, Michael... that's a perfect plan for 600 bucks, assuming you install the pulley yourself!

insatalling the pulley yourself isn't as hard as you think, it's just time consuming

don't be afraid to do the pulley install, that's part of the fun

LAST EDITED ON 19-Oct-01 AT 00:48 AM (PST)

Work on your own car as much as you can. That way you can save your money you use on labor for more mods. When I first came to the board I new a little bit about cars, after being here for a while I have learned a lot and I learn more all the time. I am not afraid to start digging in to my motor to do anything now.

I would say to add to michaels plan, buy the PACE SETTER cat back exhaust for about $150 and sell the muffler on ebay. Use the 2.5 inch cat back piping for your catback and then have a muffler shop weld on the universal muffler. The 2.5 inch piping is much better than what most exhaust shop would give you. Some guys have also paid an additional $20 for a Cherry Bomb Glass Pack muffler to use as a premuffler (resonator). I think the pace setter resonator is a little shitty. I just say no resonator and ignore the buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Todd is running mid 15's with the stock exhaust piping and just a GS-T muffler. His mods are very minimal. I would look at what he has done and go from there. Intake, muffler, pulleys, TB (you can not do a core swap anymore - have to buy the $250 one -dunno why), light wheels, good tires, and practice.

What do mean Chris? Howell's site still have the bore your TB for $100 option. Did they stop doing this? If so when?

I was told this from last time Armond went to have his tb done. I could be wrong. I hope I am. It is much nicer to just send yours in and cheaper.

Well, I would just not bother with the header until after the pulley and other things. And if you get one, go with a 4 into 1 and make sure it's ceramic coated. I think there is more to be gained with a 4 into 1 than a 4 to 2 to 1 header.

yeah... there are some past threads that you can search for that have text write-ups of the pulley installation... that should be about all the info you need to do it yourself. Did anyone ever post those on the main 2gnt.com page? I think it'd be a great addition!
