I was having overheating issues due to copper headgasket. So i was filling up with water trying to figure out what the deal was. Anyways i let my car sit to long and my cranes rusted up pretty bad . So im rebuilding and im going to use crower stage2 and downgrade the turbo to a 20g. My lifters and rockers are fine no rust. Do i need to upgrade them to eaton pt to run the crower stage 2 cam? Ive heard conflicting issues about this so im kind of lost on the topic.

1st glad to see your using the 20g, it's a much better turbo in my opinion for a street/drag app. 2nd the crower 2's are really the only good cam to be used for turbo at this point the crane 14 "turbo" grind are kinda showing themselves to not flow as well in high boost applications. If you are using an aftermarket cam it's a good idea to upgrade the lifters/rockers and springs. Retainers are actually optional, can't remember who, but the stock have been shown to work better on HIGH revving motors because the Ti ones seemed to "float" more. Get the eaton lifters and 2.4 rockers, they were an upgraded design from ours that have better oiling ports = no lifter tick and longer life. I have that setup with crane valve springs in my car, can't say ya notice a difference but it's good insurance. now you just need a better fuel system, you already know it's craptech!

My reccomendation is with the crower stage 2 cams, make sure you have stiffer aftermarket springs (such as the crane valve springs), but as for the rockers and lifters if you are not going above stock red line you shouldn't have anything to worry about if they aren't rusted up and the rocker arms are still rolling well (not siezed up).
The 2.4 rockers and lifters are better and if you can get them you might as well put them in (cheap insurance compared to the rest of the work being done) but if they are in good condition and you're not going to 8K rpms and you don't feel like doing it, you'll be fine.

Don't want to be a thread stealer ... but well, I am (seems like his question answered) Is there a good "milage number"/boost level to replace rockers and lifters after running turbo for awhile? Or is it the kind of thing where you just run them till they break?

you will kind of hear them "tick" if you have the car apart for a timing belt for the 100k+ one then i would recommend doing it. They are a pita ONLY because you have to take off the timing belt and cams. The actual installation is easiest thing ever. There really isn't a time to replace them like i.e. scheduled maintenence.. water pump, timing belt stuff that is expected to wear out.

well this is kinda off the subject but does anybody have a link to dyno sheets from a crower 2 stage cam vs a stock cam with boost. I heard there were some i just wanted to see.

I was just curious b/c I'm looking to buy a used head with about 60k on it and I'm wondering how well a used head can handle the boost I'd like to run through it.
