After several conversations and research it sounds like the most likely thing is that I spun a main rod bearing. That would explain my low oil pressure and murky looking oil. I have no idea how this happened since I've only got 1000 miles on and I've been massively babying the car ... but that doesn't change the fact that it happened. So, I won't know for sure until I pull the motor .. but that's the plan for now - pull the motor (again) and send the bottom out to a machine shop, have the whole thing gone over again, machining if necessary, and rebuild it again. I'm hoping that part/internal damage is minimal. I'm having the car trailer'd to my garage this weekend. If things are REALLY bad I may go back to stock over the winter, but I'm going to lose thousands of dollars if I go that route. I guess we shall see .... the saga continues. Someday my car will make it to a show/meet.

maybe your oil pump started going out. i have heard from plenty of members that their melling pumps went out on them... sorry to hear though...do you hear any knocking or anything?

Nah, it's not the oil pump. In my other post about this I said that I have a brand new high-flow melling oil pump. It's got about 99 miles on it. Plus, I'm still getting oil to my turbo, which is uphill, so the pump works. And yeah, there's some knocking ....

Yeah, I've been working on these cars for close to 5 years now ... I had the feeling too, that's why I posted up. If I really believed it was just the guage I would never even mentioned it. Oh well, I'm in the process of tracking down some decent local machine shops. I'll hopefully have the motor out fairly soon.

After my rebuild I had a rod bearing go out after 50 miles... never reved higher than 4k and I was just putting around (2k-3k was when I normally shifted, 1 time I went to 4k) and after a while it just started making a loud clicking sound and it just kept getting louder and louder...
