Ok so I can't seem to get the damn bolts off that hold the cat to the back section of the pipe. Tried saw-zaw'n them off but the teeth wore off the fucking new blade? Yes it was for metal....anyways any ideas? How do I get these rusted fackers off?

I used WD40 and an impact wrench and they came right out. If that doesn't work and if you have access to a torch, you can heat them up until they glow orange and then try to remove them before they cool down.

Liquid Wrench, let soak an hour, come back, douse again, remove.

Use a breaker bar or impact wrench.

3 words. cut...off...wheel. when i was removing my axle back i had one stubborn bolt that wouldent come lose. tried soaking, all that crap. finally just cut the SOB off...quite easily too i might add. i couldent get the shank out, so i ended up cutting the nut tack welded on the other side as well...and just slipped in a nut and bolt with a couple washers

Go buy the right blade for your sawzaw. Look for the "torch" brand.....that blades will cost you about 18.00 for the 6". your using either to fine of a tooth pitch or cheap blades. Or use a torch.

Thanks guys. well After work I grabbed the cut off wheel and went to town on it and finally cut it off. Now I have to figure out how to get the rest of the bolt out. Hey at least I got a good deal on this exhaust (traded a brand new greddy header for a HKS hi power catback brand new)

where is the stuck remainder of the bolt? if its held on the other side by a nut thats tacked on...just cut off the nut. otherwise..get a drill and get to drilling out the old bolt.

Do you mean that I need to cut that other side? damn....Now I don't have the tools here to do this shit....I cut off the muffler and a bit of the beack section of pipe and unbolted the remainder. I was going to try and just manuever the pipe a bit so it would break loose...guess I could be wrong? Anyways I did quit for the night..new problem...02 sensor won't come off....I shall ponder it over some beers..thanks guess keep it coming, I have a lot of work ahead and I need the wisdom of 2gnt

EDIT: Oh and I don't think I have access to a drill that would take out that bolt.....for some reason its hard as fuck to cut, let alone drill out..

you need to find a drill, or get a torch and put some locking pliers on it, that'll do the trick

Where does it unplug at?

Well I said fuck it and cut off the rest of the exhaust as close to the stuck flange as I could. Although its still stuck together I managed to cut out the bottom part of the gasket so I can now get in between it..I have nothing to pry it with and the cat is moving around too much for me to do anything serious....Do I HAVE to drill out those bolts? I am trying to think of alternative methods of doing this due to the fact all my tools are in FL so I am very limited.....I really need to get this fucker put on...

EDIT: If you don't understand my description I can post up some pics...

beat on it with a hammer. a lot. i just did it earlier today on my buddys gst, it took a while, but if you keep beating on it you'll loosen the rust enough that it'll come off.

So I got the flange peice off and now I need to get those bolts out....is there any reason I wouldn't be able to pound them out?

EDIT: Is the other head on the bolt like tack welded to the flange? Do I need to cut that head off and then pount the bolts out?

they're probably threaded into the block. try a pipe wrench. otherwise you might have to drill it out. you could buy a test pipe or high flow cat too.

I almost said fuck it and took the cat off before but the other side is rusted too and it would be the same headache....I don't think I can get to the head on the back side but I can cut it off ..I don't think the bolts threaded in...but I don't know..

You won't be able to knock the bolts out. They are threaded into the cat emoji

Will a stud remover work? Oh well I'm trying it...soak it in pb blaster and and then attack it from everywhere like a exhaust ninja
