If the cam gear isn't tightened correctly the cam can slip out of time and the valves can be down when the piston comes up and thats not really a good thing. The best thing to have with cam gears is more bolts to hold it in place like these:
These are avalible at howell for $249
I have heard of people having some problems with cam gears with only 3 bolts hold it in place.
Some companies even make cam gears with 6 bolts to hold it in place but I don't think there are any for the eclipse yet but I may be wrong.

Yup I bent my valves from when my cam gear broke. But having 5 bolts would make it a real pain to adjust. You'd have to spin the cam gear a lot just to loosen up all five bolts, since the intake cam gear is so hard to reach. I heard the new AEM bolts with washers are a lot better, so I am switching to those asap...

a shop sold me the Hayame sprockets with the 5 bolts but they wouldn't fit because Hayame still doesn't sell them for turbos because of the camshaft sensor. They guy was cool and traded mine for some AEM ones with the 3 bolts but tightened them with lock seal when my car was dynoed. So far so good with these...
